Some cool photos posted up by Tedy. let me add some background....

What's the famous Dodge Deora concept vehicle doing at a Ford car show display, you ask? Well, this is actually a 1973 Ford concept vehicle, called the Explorer. (And yes, pretty much a Deora rip-off). It does have a V8, as opposed to the Deora's slant 6, though.

    Malibu, CA.

This is also Malibu, a bit further east along the coastline than the pic above. You can see the coastline at Santa Monica, and the famous Santa Monica Pier in the background:

I believe this is the town of Big Bear, next to Big Bear Lake in the mountains of So. Calif.

Morro Rock and Morro Bay harbor, central Calif. coast.

The 'Hamburger Handout', a very well-liked hamburger stand in Culver City, CA. in the 50's and early 60's. (I went there as a kid). It was part of a outdoor 'food court' known as 'Airport Village' (only 1.5 miles to LAX). Also had a taco stand, a pizza shop, and maybe a couple of other places.

Delores Drive-In, S/E corner of Sepulveda Bl. and Washington Bl., Culver City, CA. Albertson Oldsmobile dealership next door. I lived about 5 blocks west of here (to the right in the pic) from age 0 to age 5. (1951 - 1956) This pic looks to have been taken around 1960, so I was about 3 miles away by then.

Circa 2015. Okay this isn't vintage but this is from my family camping trip this summer. I left the 1970 Cutlass Wagon at home and drove my Flex instead. This may not be vintage now but it will be in forty years. I am not in the pic because I am taking the pic at the displeasure of my teenage daughter. In my opinion the Flex is the best, maybe the only, full size wagon on the market. I know it's marketed as an SUV but really it's just a wagon. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

flyingethan don't be offended. This is only my opinion. This photo is not of a VINTAGE STREET SCENE and odds are in 40 years that Ford Flex won't have enough parts left in good shape to even recognise as a wagon. I agree it does look like a station wagon.

That's fine. I posted this picture because others have commented on previous pages that family camping was different "back in the day" because now people bring air conditioners, campers, tv's, etc.. This picture of my camping trip looked kind of vintage to me because it's just my fam in front of our tents with my Flex in the foreground foregoing a lot of the conveniences that folks have commented on in previous posts. We don't bring air conditioners, tv's or any of that junk. Flex's may not be around in forty years and you may not think they are wagons but this picture will be a vintage picture in forty years, at least for me. I'll post pics like this in the Station Wagon Lounge next time. Cheers!

I understand and may have been out of line. Just hoping we can keep late model scenes out of vintage scenes.
I was one of those who often mentions how camping has changed over the years. Also one now with TV, AC, a generator, etc.
I do love the old time campground pictures and those remind me of our early days camping.
I agree the Flex seems to be one of the few real stationwagons today. The use of SUV just sounds cooler to the soccer mom's and dad's.

Additionally our 17 year old grand daughter hates having her picture taken. I think it's a "girl thing."

It's more likely a '17-year-old' thing, as my brother (the one with the four daughters) has told me.
