Mann's Chinese Theater, Hollywood, CA. - Opening of Star Wars, (1977?)

This is where I first saw Star Wars, probably a couple of weeks after this pic was taken. We were hanging around the apartment in Hawthorne, CA. on a Saturday afternoon, with the wifey's good friend, and started talking about the movie, and decided spur-of-the-moment to drive into Hollywood to see it. Found out showing times, and tried to make the next show, which was in about an hour. Hollywood was about 30 miles away, in heavy traffic. Got there JUST in time, and only the 2 front rows were open. This was a great thing. That battle cruiser coming out of the top of the huge screen in the opening sequence was just awesome!


Westwood Village, Los Angeles, Ca. in the mid 50's ...... That domed building on the left side of the pic, with the spear sign is a Bank of America. I worked down that side street on the left. About 3 blocks beyond this location, in the same direction the camera is looking, is U.C.L.A.
