Hey! That Hollyweird pic is only eight blocks from CBS Television City (7800 Beverly Blvd.)! I'm guessing that pic was taken in '75-'76 time frame, judging by the fuel prices and the hamburger price on the McDunghole's billboard on the left.

OHMIGOD, is that a piston-powered PSA plane back there? Man, they really sucked, even with jet aircraft. They passed that craptastic attitude to Southworst.

Oh yeah! More than likely a Lockheed Electra. I remember when I was young, dad would drive us kids over to Aviation Bl., on the east side of the LAX property, where you could park and watch those old DC-7's and Super Constellations buzz about 50' over your head as they were coming in to land. Then the 707's and DC-8's came along, and it was GLORIOUS! That, plus the smell of jet fuel made for an amazing afternoon for this young kid.

Cool. My dad was stationed at NAS Sandpoint in Seattle, so we lived at Paine Field Navy housing on the South side of where Boeing put their 747 plant, so since the prevailing winds blew Southerly, their takeoffs almost always overflew us. So I share your enthusiasm about being a kid watching powerful planes taking off and landing.
