Hey, Krash. Do you have any pics of what your dad drove because that would really cool to see?

You are correct KK. Milk trucks were smaller. Mostly those Divco brands. In central Illinois they were mostly white or yellow colored. Just looked delivery truckish to me. This one was probably small delivery truck for grocery stores, funiture stores, even UPS, whatever they used to be called. I remember when they had a contest to rename UPS to UPS from whatever they were. Probably early 60's when I was actually a shipping clerk and called them a lot for pick ups. There are several of those larger trucks here in Florida reborn as street rods. One is red and a former Fire department emergency vehicle. :tiphat: I'm not old I just remember a lot my grandpa told me!

_______We'll paint one side blue and white and the other bright red with flames. Park it in your drive way with the blue side toward the street. We'll put old Budweiser cases on your side in the rear. There are peope who do share one new car between several family members, alternating weeks. :biglaugh:

Oh man, I really wish I did. I can't even find any 'generic' photos from the dairy he worked for. I keep looking from time to time though. I haven't checked with my mom though. Next time i go to visit, I look through some old photos. She doesn't even have a computer.

Cameras in many forms are just common tools now. When we were young we rarely took pictures. I have very few photos of any of my cars. There used to be a member of our car club with an old Divco milk truck with Chevy 350 in it. He moved back up north, wherever north is!:camera: In my mind I still see those old yeller Bordons milk trucks with a cartoon picture of Bessie the cow sticking her head out of a sunflower! And the white Sealtest truck. Those drivers jumping in and out of their trucks with glass quart bottles to put on the front door steps. A things my grandpa used to tell me!

I remember Divcos as milk trucks, but I also remember the milk trucks that made deliveries to neighbors on my street in the 60's and early 70's, used plain white unmarked mid and late 60's Chevy 1/2 ton panels ( 2 door Suburbans without rear side windows). The Chevys were a little on the fancy side with chrome bumpers and grilles and chrome hubcaps. I remember a few of the International Metro vans as bakery trucks, and diaper service trucks.

now how come most people would like the second picture more ? besides the obvious that the second one has mag wheels........whats really the difference ? they both could be viewed as patina, but on the other hand they both could be viewed as a P.O.S , so what is truthfully the difference between patina, and just flat out being rusty and needing work ?

As a kid growing up in San Diego I remember the Milk trucks were white with orange .. dang the name escapes me ... the more rural areas had Rocky Home Dairy doing their duties ... both were Divco truck.

The dudes with the chevy (or GMC) panel deliveries were Helms Bakeries ... they had those pull-out drawers that kept coming and coming. Glazed donuts were 6 cents .

The dry cleaner guy had a 59 sedan delivery like MY avatar ... I remember it had a single front seat .... he was a grumpy old man,.... like me! LOL

The guy with the big truck like the HAN panel was the scissor and knife sharpening operation .... he also did lawn mowers.

..... and then there was the Good Humor guy .......my favorite ...!

Hey Wingnut! I have gone to HAN Reno for 23 years in a row. I'ts a blast, mainly because you get to drive your car to differant events all around Reno and Tahoe now! As for the so called riots they lasted about 10 min until the Reno PD showed up and cracked a few heads and that was that! It was between some mexican & orentials I was about 100 feet away!! The Neveda PD boys are no one to mess with!.Any way I have NEVER seen anything even remotely.like that again. The City of Reno like's the 30 million dollars that this brings in every year!! It's alot more fun to drive your pride and joy around the sit in a lawn chair like one does a most cars shows... 6500 cars are allowed to register, all are registered over a year in advance, and paid for! SO ther is a waiting list to enter your car.. It sounds like I'm promoting HAN,not really my family has enjoyed it for years.Come check it out some time! Rooms our outrageous bring you RV that's what I do.. I posted some pictures of my 63 Buick special that I took there this year in my gallery. Sorry it's not a wagon but it's a rare little car.. SEEEEEEE YAAAAAAAAAAAA Bob
