Thanks Rick, but I cannot justify a trip to a car show, no matter how cool and fun it would be. Not with the wife crying all the time because she is so homesick.
Gee, Griz....didn't realize that you've taken up mind reading. You aren't doing well at it, by the way. I, and I'm sure others, appreciate your comprehensive review and, no, I didn't have my mind made up. That's WHY I asked the question. When I heard about the derby and saw the wagon they destroyed...THEN, my mind was made up. I also have some other personal issues as well. Frankly, it seems that your use of "you guys" was also in error. I asked the question and it seems that I'm the only one that has changed his mind about attending. Sorry if my feelings about the event don't match yours. That's no reason to take your ball and go home. But....if you insist....it's your prerogative. Just don't blame it on others. EDIT: Hmmmm....It would appear that Griz decided to delete his post that I have alluded to here in my post. Maybe when he said "I'm outta here" he took all his text with him??
There's another option...... The ASWOA Convention (American Station Wagon Owners Association) in Dearborn, Michigan - June 26, 2010 http://aswoa.com/main/?p=209
Thank you for that, Marshall. I will look into that event. Sounds like it may be a winner. Wonder how many wagons show up, etc.
from what i have heard there will be no more derby. at WF we could always use more of a showing at the carlisle all gm nationals. last year it was just me and the stickman (and his wife..twig).
Carlisle? I don't remember where that is....what State?....drawing a blank here. Fact is...I think I've BEEN there! Boy....I MUST be getting old! I'm trying to schedule out which places I want to go this summer. It may be my last so I'm goin' for it.
Well Fox, I hope that is just sort of a "seize the day" kind of thing, and not a real "last" kind of thing! David
Well...I don't plan on taking the last wagon ride soon, wix. But I am getting older and driving long distances has lost some of its appeal. Although...with this new wagon it's a blast!
its in central pa, people come from all over the country for the show. snooterbuckets recently posted pic's from there... http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5814
That one sound promising. Not a bad road trip either, like 4.5 hours from here. I wouldn't mind hitting Carlisle either, I hear they put on a hell of a great swapmeet.
OK...I'm going to start a new post....ask everyone what shows they plan to attend this summer. That way I can know who I can meet up with where. The one in Dearborn is pretty close to me and if it's a good show I probably would attend. I especially like that one because it is a wagon event. Maybe Carlisle too....depends on whose going and how many wagons are going to show up. But ... there may be others I am unaware of so...I'll post a new thread and see who bites on what and where.
That does sound like the best compromise for the GM owners on the east coast. And more than B-Body owners are allowed.
Carlisle is MECA. It is where the masses of car people flock to all season long. There is a show for everyone. Spring and fall swap meets that are the biggest in the country. A show for each GM, Ford, and Chrysler. An Import/kitcar show, truck show, Corvette show and I think I am missing something. It is in Carlisle PA just south of Harrisburg on route 81.
I'm up for that one (althoght I like seeing ALL brands in one place...)....AND the wagon show in Dearborn. Post it in the car event thread, Stick!
I thought Wagonfest, though supposedly open to all wagons, was primarily a B body event. I've seen pictures from it, (Maybe on here, now that I think about it), and didn't see anything that wasn't a Caprice, Roadmaster or Olds. I never considered going to it for that reason. That is a shame about the 6000; it looked like it was in really good shape, the operative word there being "was". Why couldn't they have gotten a sedan or even more appropriately, a mini van. Hard to figure, really, especially when you see the nice condition of it.
