Around 1971 Mom and Dad split up the package and sold the camper to someone who was going to try and fit it on a pick up truck - I've never seen it again but I'm always looking. The car itself was involved in an accident a few years later, 1973~ish and was scrapped out by Arnprior Auto Wreckers in Arnprior Ontario.

    that's a sad ending to a nice wagon/camper.

this is the only studebaker wagon with the special roof that I've ever seen in person

Those tent based rigs are cool but these days I would be a little nervous about security.

Is that rowboat designed to fit the roof contour of the Buick wagon (that is a Buick, right?)the way the RARE 1953 or 4 Ford camper wagon was?

As an humorous aside, GM had a tent and other camping accessories for the Pontiac Aztek.
    Ugly car, ugly tent.
But it would be cool to have one......

Not nearly as cool as a Studebaker, but cool anyway.

Saw only one in person that I know of. Not more than a dozen miles from home here in the N W Florida boonies. Was in the storage/salvage area of a Studebaker collector. (Son of GatorAid inventor, Cade)
Heard the collection, business, storage yard are long gone. Sadly we missed some good buys on 1950 Stude things we could have used. Sometimes dragging one's feet and waiting is not a good thing.
On the other hand, I've bought junk I will never use!:banghead3::whew::biglaugh:

From what I remember, that boat was also the top of the storage container. I may be wrong. I was once!:D

That's a '69 Chevy Kingswood Estate. I hadn't noticed that little rowboat before. Looks kinda flimsy to me. Not sure if it's meant as a 'topper' for the tent system on the roof. Would help if we had another pic of it all together. I have seen a little camping travel trailer where the 'top' is a small boat*.

I'll go do some internet pic search and check back....

This one was strictly a 'concept' done by Ford for the auto show circuit, IIRC....
