Beat me to it Andrew. It IS a great story. The B-17 was taken down in 96 and a full scale restoration begun in 2014. The roadside attraction is gone, but the plane is still around with hopes that it will be airworthy by the end of this decade.
Yeah, I had read that. I asked my brother if we'd ever gone to that station when we lived in Tigard in '68, and he said no.
My dad had one, I came home from the hospital in it then he traded it for a new 63 Dodge convertible.
We had a 4-door, not a Biscayne, in '69, after we moved to North of Seattle. The floorboards had rust holes, and I could tell when Dad changed lanes because I could see the stripes go by.
