    Yup, Checker did sell some of their cars as cheap police cruisers. Dad told me about when we moved to Western WA (I was 3 1/2), and the town we moved to, the police force had two Checkers--one each marked and unmarked, and one rainy night, they went down to one marked, because the one detective was drunk.
