These were locally-built by White Freightliner in Portland, OR. The four rigs you see here were the only built--two pumpers, two snorkels.
I'd have to look it up, but I suppose it's because they were fugly.... But seriously, I don't know. I'll look it up.
I'll be damned if I can find anything about the decisions about the Fireliners. Apparently there were five built, and three now remain, although I read something about some @$$clown removing the pump, tank and body off one of the pumpers, and at last word, was languishing for someone to restore it.
Well, according to the guy's blog I read, the @$$clown was trying to convert it into a people mover instead of restoring it.
