    You'd be wrong. When we lived in Navy Housing here in South Everett, our next-door neighbors, Lt. and Mrs. Lollar, owned a small collection of Metropolitans. Mr. Lollar told my dad once that when well-tuned, a Metropolitan got about as much MPG's as a VW Bug. And our '66 convertible averaged 45 MPG, according to Dad.

    The vintage Beetle is an iconic car and I like them. But I do find it humorous to the word "horsepower" and "Beetle" used in the same sentence.
