A number of the styling cues did make their way onto the 57 & 58 Mercury Turnpike cruiser. I'd say the forward look of the front fender is even looking farther into the future than that. Too bad it was left to rot, but at least it didn't get crushed. From some of the photos you posted it looks like it may be getting restored?
I think, Hemmings dug that up. With so many parts missing, it might be a needlessly expensive restoration going in the direction of that Mercedes transport truck
This had taken place, before anybody had even seen a long Mercury. They would otherwise have to have waited another 2 years. They even brought the car to your neighborhood, almost to force you to go see it, like immediate concentration camp neighbors were forced by the occupying army to go into these camps and see the aftermath for themselves If you're into silent films
