This view of the used vehicle lot at Arrow Chevrolet in Duluth, MN, was taken at some point during the 1955 Chevrolet model year. This appears to be its downtown location. A second dealership, West Arrow Chevrolet was at Grand Ave. and Sixtieth Ave. West. Courtesy of The Old Motor
Interesting seeing the ‘37 Ford dealer with a Lincoln Zephyr. There’s a couple of small signs, but nothing indicating Lincoln on the building. Wonder if they picked up Mercury in ‘39.
Thanks yellerspirit #2524 is a great photo. My wife's Father had a black bullet nose and she always looks for a Study at shows. Going to see if I can download this one and have Walgreens print a copy.
Munch is an appropriate name for this Studebaker. In Chicago you could here the rust munch through these things on the side cowel/fender vents.
J.D. Munch was one of the biggest suppliers of vending machines in the 60's and 70's. I wonder if it's the same guy after his car dealership went under. I had one of his cigarette machines in my station. He kept them filled and gave me a percentage. Always thought he might be "connected" if you get my drift.
I had a friend in Chicago who I grew up with. His dad owned a chain of “Laundry Matts” he bought a loaded up 225 every year, and his wife drove a new Riv every other year. Mr. Campioni was never around, and you got the fish eye if you asked any questions about him or the business. Got your drift. Lol. Seems like businesses with a lot of outside cash flow seem rife for “connected” owners. I had recently started with Merrill Lynch after they changed their policy of taking cash at the window. Apparently several Pizza Parlors were making deposits weekly that a normal business wouldn’t make in a year. Now that the government has 87,000 new IRS agents they can extort you in broad daylight.
These late-1950s photos are views of the Bob Lougpre Pontiac used car lot at 335 W. Huntington Dr. in Monrovia, CA. Courtesy of The Old Motor It has been reported that Lougpre’s Pontiac Dealership moved near the 210 Freeway in southern Monrovia in the early 1990s. It is unknown if Lougpre’s new Pontiac car sales operation was also at this location.
