That's so neat that the building is still there. It would be a great spot foe a classic car dealership.
I had never been through Susanville until a few years ago, when we started visiting family in Carson City, coming from Oregon, instead of coming from So Cal. And we only went through Susanville when traveling on a certain route, not the one that is the most direct.
Bumping is when the gal in the Caddy swung around and pushed one of those Dagmars into the rear quarter of that Olds. It put an ever so slight crease in the fender, but didn’t break the paint. The craftsman at the body shop got it rolled out with a mallet and heat.
Thanks 60Mercman. I know the procedure as "paintless dent removal". Sounds more refined to our modern sensitive ears. Had it done to the Safari a couple of years ago. No mallet that I remember , certainly no heat, more like burglar tools. Got rid of the usual door dings plus a small dent on the hood that I had assumed would be a big deal to smooth. Watched the man do it in under 5 minutes and you would never know it was there. Impressive.
Well we certainly have become a more refined and correct society. Lol. I just remember my dad had a friend that had a body shop. That guy started fixing cars in the late ‘30’s. His tools looked more like carpenter and mining tools, plus torches and heat. I assumed it was a mallet as it seemed like when I always went in there sparks were flying and you heard a lot of banging noises. Today you just turn some drills and presto your ugly panel is off, and the new one is on in nothing flat.
