Those people riding on top of that double decker better hope that the Devil isn't whispering in the driver's ear. One wrong sudden pull on that wheel should resolve the unfair center of gravity
Trackless Trolley's are cool. I just missed them when I was young. I believe they were still around, but I was just too young to know. I did get to see, ride and even drive the next generation though, which were the "Old Look" style.
We still have them in Seattle--the newest coach body designs. During WW II, because it turned out my Grandpa Len was allergic to something in welding smoke (he was a welding inspector at Todd Shipyard in Seattle), he had to quit, but found a job maintaining the trolley buses for the Seattle Transit System (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trolleybuses_in_Seattle), and in the Wiki article, the first pic is of one of the newest buses.
A friend of mine used to drive an old School Bus like one of the ones above back in '64 or '65. The thing about it is that he was only 16. That how things were back in 'ol Virginia back then. I asked him if he was still going to school at the time and he said "Yeah. Once I parked the bus I went on into school", lol.
When I was a kid I made friends with my school bus driver. She had a similar story from when she was younger. Her school bus driver was one of the high School students. Same type of deal. She said once he parked the bus he went to class. Different times.
