It almost looks like these old factories had about as many supervisory staff as workers themselves. If they had had competent employees, so much supervisory wouldn't be needed, unless management was just paranoid

That wasn't a big worry there. The U.S. Government shut down Tucker production not long after that pic was taken.

Why's that? Did the government loan them a bail-out, to keep in business?

You need to see "Tucker: A Man and His Dream," with Jeff Bridges, to get the full story. Essentially, he stood accused of duping the public and the government to get the car into production, but the theory is that the Big Three pushed the government into going after Preston Tucker.

They saved on retirement pay outs, because the painters would shortly thereafter die of respiratory failure. What's with all the Mutton Chop sideburns? Did employees hit discos, at night, instead of ordinary bars?

How times have changed? Did you see some of the clothing and hairstyles? There was one gal in a black pant suit...when was the last time you saw a female wearing a polyester pant suit?

The last time I watched that overbearing Battleaxe Maude.
There was some geeky type wearing a white shirt suit and tie. I'll bet he's the one most wanted for tie-pulling on the shop floor. But, never got his tie pulled, for fear of losing one's jowb
