What if the seats were turned backwards and the steering wheel and controls mounted behind the engine? Would it then be a wagon? It would certainly become better aerodynamics, as well as a suicide door :)

That sort of reminds me of an episode of the Red Green Show. Red took a front engine front wheel drive car and converted it to rear engine rear wheel drive. What you suggest would be the same kind of conversion in reverse.

I couldn't find the video of that conversion, but here Red made a Zamboni out of a K-car and thats almost the same sort of conversion.

The Multipla is definitely a wagon. FIAT built a little-bit larger passenger van around the same time; and when placed side-by-side, you can see the difference. These are very cool cars.

Guys, if you are considering size and/or configuration as the criteria for what is a "wagon", then consider the Crosley wagon. Smaller than the Multipla, it was the largest-selling wagon in the US in 1946.

You got a point, there. Hanswurst does look somewhat cartoonish. We must be sharing DNA, afterall. I guess, I'll have to work on getting into his will, for that, since I'm now entitled to inheriting.
How to fly a Multipla. Since the rear ends of the Multipla and Fiat 600 are identicle, so are upgrades:
