Two junkyard wagons

Wow, I never noticed before how much that nose reminds me of a 64/65 Thunderbird.

 

Jaunty - Could you figure out what was going on with the '62 Thunderbird? looks to me like someone was trying to turn it into a pick-up........

 

That must be one of those Canadian Cutlasses as I learned on South Park that Canadian cars have square tires.

 

My father in law just emailed me that he sold his F-85 Cutlass to a relative in Albuquerque in 1965. Makes me wonder if that F-85 in the photo might have been his.

The original photo, which I have on my computer at home, was taken at high resolution, so it might be possible to zoom in on the T-bird. I'll do that and post the result later today.

While anything is certainly possible, it's been almost 50 years since your father-in-law last saw the car, so the likelihood that this car is the same one is very small.

Plus, while Kingman, Arizona and Albuquerque, New Mexico are in adjacent states, they're still 500 miles from each other. If this car had been spotted IN Albuquerque, there might be reason to hope.

One question, and I apologize if you said so earlier, but what color was your father-in-law's car?

 

No. As I said at the beginning of this thread, the yard was closed on the Sunday morning we were there. All of my photos were taken from outside the fence. I certainly would have been happy to pay $5.00 and walk the yard, with or without a guide, if I had had the opportunity.

 

I agree. $5 is a small price to wander a yard like that one.

About Liza's familie's car. I was friends with an old Chevy lover in Bloomington, Ill. 50 miles from where I lived. Met him where he lives in Florida when we moved 100 miles away.
Bought a 1980 Camaro without engine near me for subframe. Paper work showed it was this friend's car sold to a gal in Tampa. First thing he asked "how's the engine run?" My answer "it's missing." He said it did have a bad miss! I had to explain.
Strange things happen.

 

This is the best I can do with regard to the T-bird. It does look Ranchero-ized.

 

It certainly looks driveable. I wonder if the yard uses it as a 'go-fer' truck?

The T-bird-chero is certainly interesting. I personally like the actual Ranchero though.

 

Yes, but in the car only had to travel 10 miles a year to make it to Kingman in half a century.

Jack says his car was bright red. It looks like the car in your photo is maroon. Unless it has faded and discolored over the years - or been repainted - it's not quite the same shade of red as his.

I hope the Cutlass gets a good home. That entire lot is quite a tasty collection, isn't it? If the owner can't get a buyer for his business, I wonder if he'll auction off those cars?

 

I'll simplify my story, and just say I had a '62 Cutlass in Heather Mist metallic, with silver vinyl interior. I wish I could have it back today.
