My folks sold their house, so we have been going through a lot of stuff recently. Among all of the items that were saved after Grandpa and Grandma passed away we have discovered a slew of loose photographs. This is one that was in a bunch discovered in an old shoebox.

    Uncle Bob's F-100 & Fury.jpg

It was taken in July of 1972.
The Boy on the move is my Uncle Mike, the Gentleman on the left is the father of my Uncle Frank (who I mentioned here in the past: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/threads/my-uncle-frank.40627/) his name is Dorsey. Next to him is my Great Uncle Bob, and on the far right is my Grandpa Charles.

I have mentioned it before, but Uncle Bob and Grandpa had almost identical trucks. When I first saw this photo I thought it was my truck (Grandpa's) that they were leaning against. When my Dad looked at it he said "No, that's Uncle Bob's truck. Look at the hubcaps." Sure enough, he was right.

I can see the tail end of another wagon parked ahead. Is that one your family members or maybe a neighbour? Great photo find.

Noticed that too Jennifer. It looks like a ‘70-‘72 AMC ish or a mid range Fird/Merc. Really neat picture. How old is your Uncle Mike? Great family photo!

I don't know about the wagon ahead of the Fury. I agree that it looks like an AMC.
I think Uncle Mike is 58.

Your Uncle Mike and I are around the same age. And yes, I loved Mom's fresh-baked cookies.

That wagon ahead of the Fury looks to me like an AMC Classic wagon, 1966 vintage.....

Yeah. Didn’t realize the mid ‘60s had such a thin tail lamp. But think you are onto something there. Good eye

I mentioned it over on the what have you done to your wagon lately thread, but the Fury has not been neglected during the winter hibernation. My car definitely likes to mark it’s territory. I have three pans on the floor in my garage. One has red fluid, one has black fluid and one has green fluid. Time to remedy that.
I ended up with a new rear main seal, new seals/gaskets/filter/etc. for the transmission, a new pan gasket, one new freeze plug and a new aluminum radiator.

I also mentioned in the rear window thread that I got a tailgate out of a 64 Dodge wagon that has a power rear window regulator in it. I took it to a local glass shop and they are going to take a look at it. I am hopeful that it will work well and i won't have to help the window up or down any longer.

I don't think I have any photos, but I also found a set of rear interior fender cover thingys. The ones I have are cracked like crazy. I have tried fixing them, but the repairs were marginal at best and unfortunately didn't last long. So my buddy that owns the upholstery shop that installed the new seat material has the set I found and he is getting them all cleaned up and ready to install.

I know I have mentioned it before, but my hope for years now has been to take the boys on a roadtrip in the Fury. I have always wanted to do at least some part of RT 66 and I have been shooting for the spring break of the year when Nathaniel is 15 and a half so he can do some of the driving.
That is officially one year from this week. So, trying to be like the tortoise. Slow and steady wins the race.

    You’re out in Gods Country!
Take some short hops near home.
I hope to take the 58 down hwy 1. Cannon Beach to Yachats, it’s always been one of my favorite drives.
In another trip I had one of the best bowls of chowder ever in Yakima …We’ve also had a great road trip from STL to midway on #66 with our kids.

    Enjoy

Great updates OrthmannJ! Good idea setting a timeframe the desired road-trip. That is bound to be a memory-maker!
