It's getting close to being a law here in Ontario from the sound of it. Last year it was almost impossible to find snow tires anywhere as Quebec had just made snow tires mandatory and we had one heck of a shortage. I can see Ontario following suit soon.

Well your not in Cali anymore. You had a mishap last winter if I remeber and thank god you and your honey were not hurt.... I believe you, yourself mention that the snow/ice/slush filled your tire tread and thats why you lost traction?...... You didn't have winter tread did you, studed or not, rite?

With all respect:tiphat:, you remind me of my Dad.....95 years we didn't need............and we liked it

The 215/50 is the factory size on the optional 17" alloy wheels, which I have. The 'SS' version of the HHR has 18" wheels.

Youstobe a car the HHR's size had 13 inchers..........

:yahoo:We are just teasin ya! Of course, they go on the drive wheels, even though they are on the wrong end of the car!- I hated chains in Illinois. Rarely used them. But glad sometimes when i did.----You should have seen my 1957 VW with grandma's old 15" Nash wide white snow tires and rims on it! I could go almost anywhere!:yup:

My wife's car has Conti Touring Contacts which I've replaced in pairs throughout the years as they wear out. I'm pleased with the ride, road feel and wet traction. No way they ever last 60k though, 40k is more like it, tops. We have dedicated winter tires as they aren't very good on snow or ice.
It appears I've timed it where they will all be ready for replacement at the same time next year so a full set will be required. Provided we decide to keep the car a few more years the next set will be Michelins for better wear and a quieter smoother ride.
