I'm at around 190, and I really should be down around 170. Put on the extra pounds when I started using insulin (it excites your appetite...). I think it's time I worked on getting those extra pounds off......
Better do it, KK. Extra weight isn't good in your case. I've never gained a LOT of weight but I have been over what I like to be a few times. I think the American life style of eating wrong, drinking too much alcohol and sitting at the puter a lot and the general lack of excercise are the biggest problems we have in life. Diet and excercise is the key to a good weight and over all good health. At least, that's my theory.
It really isn't a laughing matter. Over 50% of Americans are now obese. Not heavy, not overweight, obese! Stick to those diets and excercise.
My 101 lb weight loss was extreme, much of my family assumed I was "sick" not just sticking to a strict diet. I had to show them my blood test results before they would just relax, I knew I would level out at some point.
Geeze, Dew...I had to go back and read your original post in this thread...I don't know how, but...I missed it! Now I'm REALLY amazed! I've seen a pic of you and you don't look like you could possibly CARRY another 101 lbs on you. That's a LOT of weight to take off!! I give you a lot of credit....since you are a diabetic you were wise and determined to take that weight off. And you did it! More power to you, pal!
If you want a challenge try going off products with gluten. I was having symptoms of Celiac disease and went off flour for about a year.
In Sept. 2004 I went in for a check up my weight was 219 lbs, I had just gotten divorced and had a job at a mom and pop parts store where I sat on my butt playing on the internet and eating bad food and drinking about 50 to 100 beers a weekend...in 2007 after a bender weekend in Idaho I was diagnosed with pancreatitis in which the end result was diabetes I spent 2 days in ICU and 3 more in just the regular hospital. As I changed to a healthy diet and got an extremely active new job with Napa the pounds just fell off me for the next 2 1/2 years. Now at 118 lbs I feel sooooooo much better it's just amazing.
Dewey, I can relate. It just about did me in a few months before I joined....I was given 24 hours. So I changed my life style, my living, and felt great! To then get full of false confidence. I still don't eat fast food, chips, chocolate bars etc and although I was given the OK to endulge every now and then, I took things a bit to far food wise, and started smoking like it's going out of style. I was sober for years also, but for some reason I bout some beer to mix with burgers while my honey was on vacation..... I started drinking again on weekends. Still could'nt touch a drop during the week even if a gun was pointed at my head, but come Saturday..... It's my bed, I made it, and I'm sleeping in it, it's my own fault and can't blame anyone else. When I first posted in this thread, it was just before I went to my 'new' family doctor about my knee. Well..... my blood presure is so high, I'm border line H-Attack!. Yesteday I spent most of the day in hospital and I'm nt a idiout, I know I just about got addmited! tests, blood, x-rays, cat scan, and I wait for a MRI next week. Moday I"m on a heart monitor for 24 hours, the list goes on.....I can't even take a asprin untill they know whats exactly happening, ice on my swolen knee is my only medication. Telling my honey, ohh....... Tonite, I tell my Daughter. Tommorow, I have to tell my Dad who is old, and ariving from Latvia. WTF how do I tell them? Do what your doctors say, just do it!! We are a world of temptation, and it's the temptation that does the most harm. I was given a second chance, and just may have blown it. I'm not looking for sympathy, it's my own fault, there may have been contributing factors but in the end, it's my fault so no sympathy needed or expected. Sorry to bore you all, but I am glad I got it out in the open.
Geez Tedy that is really rough. It's not boring and I'm glad you let us know what was going on. I occasionally cheat on my diet but I try to keep it few and far between (don't always win that one). Beer is my weak spot as well and I do smoke, my last check up was good and I thank God for that. I will keep you in my prayers my friend and hope that it's not as bad as it seems right now.
Fat Tedy it's good that you are getting this out in the open. You did it once and you can do it again. Take care of that knee and listen to your doctors. Same with you dewey. One or two beers is fine now and then but don't get hooked. I sit here and tell you what to do when I finally realized I have been sitting here on my butt way too long. I had to stop a half dozen times while trimming a lousy 50 foot of hedge. And that was with my new electric trimmer. Always did it by hand before. Now I can't even stand or walk around long enough to trim that little hedge without resting. We all need to watch what we eat and get more exercise. I was also given a second chance. I was happy that I had the chance. But for a time I really did give up because I am slower and tire easier. Hell, we've all got too much to live for so let's get off our asses, excercise and eat right! Hang in there Tedy, we can all do it.
Tedy, Tedy, Tedy... You are on my to do list when I have Fannie on the road. I will be expecting a BBQ buffalo steak and salad when I get there...got it!
