Ouch, that hurts to see. Is it just the doors or is the B-pillar damaged too?

Hope you get her fixed fast!

Judging by the pic, the B pillar is caved in, and there appears to be a bit of damage to the rocker as well. From what I can see, I think the B pillar should be replaced.

This is the type of situation where having a woody is a pain. If this was a non-wood wagon wagon, it really wouldn't be much of a problem for any decent shop. But now PB will probably have to get the whole wagon re-done with the Di-Noc.

Pine Box - if the insurance company is open to paying for repairs (I know, they are not at that point yet...), they should be at least paying to 're-wood' the entire right side, and you would have to kick in the labor cost on the left side. Might as well re-do the whole wagon at once.

I'd also start looking for a good vendor that has experience doing the Di-Noc. Most body shops like to sublet this stuff out......

My guess, though, is that they will probably 'total' it.......

When it's their fault, State Farm will usually do their best to accomodate a vintage vehicle!
I've seen them go to 90% of the vehicles appraised value.
I've also seen them pay an 'agreed price' to a body shop, so they could keep the car and fix it, but there are NO add orders for hidden damage!
And then, total it, and let you buy it back with a totalled title, cheap!
You are entitled to a rental car, if their fault.
Helps to rub your neck while talking to an adjuster, too!!

So far, I've only had one minor head on accident. And the stupid drunkin kid's insurance paid. With that in mind, I'd be rubbing farther down if this were me. Not a pain in the neck!:slap:

If you go to the Dr. and get checked out, giving them the State Farm claim#, you will not be billed for the visit or x-rays.
If your neck begins to hurt down the road - good luck!
And if you've any kind of pain - get a lawyer!
We didn't, and my son's still picking glass out of his scarred forehead!

Technically, that's illegal. I haven't done a 'closed bid' since the early 80's...

Back in the 90's my wife was involved in a very similar accident in our '83 Thunderbird. She was rolling along in the middle lane of a six-lane thoroughfare & the traffic in the right lane was stopped. Someone waved a guy in a restored 1967 Mustang from a parking lot through the stopped traffic and she t-boned him.

Both cars were insured with Allstate which made it easy and we were more than fairly compensated for the totaled Bird.

tell the insurance co that you demand it to be fixed. tell them that the car has special meaning to you and that it is a classic. (it may be time to consider classic car insurance) i would threaten lawsuit. don't take no for an answer.

In my experience, threatening sometimes backfires (some adjusters take the attitude "If you threaten, I'm not going to work with you..."). IMO, if you want it repaired, you've got to show them that it makes more economic sense for them to settle it that way. Basically, FLOOD them with information on the wagon, and what you think it's worth. Copies of repair work, Kelley Blue Book printouts, expensive ones for sale (like that one in Bonham, Texas I posted in the auctions section - I'm sure if you call they'll give you like a $8k price on it...). Write a detailed letter to the total loss guy (if this happens) stating everything. Have at least 3 'comparable' vehicles that are out there for sale. (other expensive one on Auto Trader in Peoria, Arizona that I was actually looking at - $8,999).

I'd be glad to help you put this all together, PineBox.

The one in Bonham is listed at $12,999. I just looked it up again.

Yeah, thats what I did when my pristine 85 Country squire was rear ended and the @ fault ins co wanted to pay me total loss value for a beater Crown Vic.
I sent pictures from Hot Rod Magazine, newspaper articles about cruise ins if there was a picture of a wagon, photos of my car when it was cleaned and waxed, etc.
I explained more than once that like convertibles, wagons are scarce and desireable, so they are worth more.
I finally got enough cash to buy the CP, plus they let me keep the Squire, which was driveable once I installed a boat trailer tail and brake light kit.
I'm going to see a nearby body shop that seems to do a lot of old car repair on monday, and see if I can get a price to repair.
State Farm hasn't contacted me yet(!)even though I reported the claim from the scene Thursday.

Thanks to all for the info, and all the good vibes.
This wagon won't be going to the crusher or the DD.:disagree:

Everyone, the info on comps would be positively golden!
I need to pump up the value as much as I can!

Yeah, we all jumped on this like white on rice, but the insurance company has only had one working day to work on the claim.......

Like PB says, let's work on finding 'comparables' for him, while the insurance company takes a few days to do their thing.......
