It took me awhile to embrace computers, not the most savey with it but Google has helped me with everything from diagnosing a car to helping me help my kids with homework. I am not totally sold on all new technology but I can't stop it so I do what I can with it. As far as credit card deal, I have 2. A discount tire direct and a visa. I use them for my car parts, home repairs etc. Just my personal deal, I get what I need and pay it off at end of month, if it is a bigger purchase, I give myself 3 months and don't put anything else until I pay it off. It just works for me and everyone has a way of doing things. I also at 41 years old only have a 4 year mortgage left on my residence at this time, no car notes etc. but have a 16 and 13 year old that may or may not go to college, I am sure my wife will need a newer car in a few years so I don't ever see me being able to get out of debt, I just try to keep my debt manageable"
Went to an Applebees for dinner tonight. After being seated, the waitress places this computer tablet-sized device on the table. Basically an actual tablet with a built-in stand, oriented landscape style. Had the menu on it (also given regular menus), as well as games (while you're waiting - 99 cents!). Also a page to enter your e-mail to join their 'club' and they will e-mail you coupons and special offers. I also noticed that almost immediately after ordering our meal through the waitress, it showed on the tablet. The tablet also has a card reader, but apparently that part of it isn't enabled yet - we paid the normal way through the waitress. I can see that once it is, I'll like it. I HATE waiting for the check, then the charge slip after I'm done eating. This will eliminate this all together. Also noticed that the screen popped up a question all pon it's own, asking if we wanted drink refills (I guess it would 'beep' the waitress). Also had a button to 'call' the waitress if you needed...... You're going to be seeing this A LOT ....very soon.
a local restaurant close to where we live was getting horrible reviews concerning slow service and cold food, they have been around for quite awhile so it was confusing for them as none of there staff had changed, they decided to put cameras in the restaurant to try to figure out the problem. turns out the patrons would come in and start to use their cell phones, laptops and tablets, when the waitress would greet them they would brush them off because they were busy texting etc, then when they were ready to order they found they would have to wait at times because the waitress was busy, then when the food came to the table it would sit until the patron was done texting etc and it would then be cold, so needless to say they figured out the problem, problem is once you get bad reviews online you are screwed!!!
It's funny you mention this, Isaw this Friday, aresturant that wants bar reviews. http://insidescoopsf.sfgate.com/blo...restaurant-owner-encourages-bad-yelp-reviews/
Oh Jeez! Now I really miss the A & W rootbeer stand and those cute curbies who took our orders with a notepad and pencil. Wonder if Hardee's will get that fancy? Everything else they have is on computers. I mentioned this another time. Internet was down and we stopped at Taco Thing to eat. Just wanted the simple taco meals off their menu. The place was half full of other customers waiting. We could see food on the grilles. But we couldn't have any because there was no way to take our order. Without little pictures on the keys most employees don't know what things cost or how to add 29 cents, $1.32, and $.98 times two! Once at a large membership campground in Florida we had reservations at a cabin. Drove 1200 miles to get there. Computer down at office. I knew the cabin number and told the gal at desk we'd unload our little Ford Escort putting the stuff on the closed porch. Then office was closed mid afternoon. Went to town. Waited and waited until the office opened. Computer down. Wait some more. When we did get in someone else was assigned that cabin. Hours later we ended up in a smaller RV and had to reload and move our supplies. I remember when campgrounds had a map on the wall with little tags to show which sites were open. Just glance and pick an open site or see which cabins are rented. But it got better. Now you have to call someone in another state to get a reservation even if you are standing in the office. Maybe China even?????? I think I'll buy me a car to talk to!
When I'm bored I check our local YELP. Several other station wagon members are on around Florida too. It seems that most diners hate meat and eat things I can't even pronounce so I make very few comments. Since the nearest big city is a college town with young people from many countries most reviews are about foods I have never seen or heard about. But it's not all about food. A recent comment was about the great job Joe Detailer did getting gum out of the car carpet. Or having a massage during a class break. Geeze! Ice cubes work wonders on gum in carpet and are free.
hahahahah too funny!!!! we were talking old times last night, going to the drive in in our jammies, laying in the back dash of my parents caddi etc!!! damn i miss the old days
