I don't know what year it is. But, I'm assuming it was one of the early ones. They were produced between '85 and '02. Starting 2002, they did some exterior changes of which some of them I don't agree with. They labeled the new old car the MGFT. They did away with the poor man's Porsche 928 copy shark-like front end and made it look somewhat FIAT Barchetta-ish. After BMW bought the parent company, they decided to poke the stick into the mud puddle, causing the MG division to change ownerships several times. Here's the MGTF. I've now got a trained eye for cheap plastic headlights. I hope the one I checked out has glass ones: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MG_F_/_MG_TF
85 huh? I thought they were older than that. Every spy needs a sporty convertible. That silver one is sharp
I went back, yesterday, to drop 10 into the tank (I'm waiting for the prices to go back down, before filling up). I took a closer look at the car and noticed that the headlights are cast from glass. The windshield wipers were rotting which is a sign that it's been sitting there for a while. The hole in the top is through the opaque back plastic window. The window itself can get replaced, if one doesen't just silicone the hole shut. Here's a review: Here's what the conversion kit looks like. One has to watch out for counterfeits of which I suspect the following to be, given the site's origin: http://frchick.blog129.fc2.com/blog-entry-133.html Here's one of the expensive conversion kits: Here's the other which is claimed to be better: https://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?54,2850849 Also mentioned is the possibility of replacing the sub-frames with those from the TF which looking that up is my job for today. Here, the update is explained. Replacing both subframes would improve handling and render those MGF update parts obsolete: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/suspension/chassis_and_handling/TF_suspension.htm http://forums.mg-rover.org/mgf-mgtf...r-sub-frame-recommended-rust-proofing-714361/
Ivy convertibles and wagons are the perfect combo! go for it! my rides - this Audi is my 7th convert, wagon is my 6th, I think?
In my case, it's either or, right now. The used car market is confused, since people have been trading in perfectly good vehicles for new ones, under a government-funded program. Dealers aren't allow to sell them, under stiff penalties. So, they end up in scrapyards or getting sold to foreigners for export. I really don't want to see my wagon ending up in some primitive country. I'd rather see it going to a loving owner, if possible. The once reliable scrapyard I used to visit to get parts from didn't have my plastic headlight neither used nor new, in stock. So, I had to repeatedly get on the phone with them, yesterday, trying to get the order right and get it shipped out, before I miss the second deadline which means going through a new inspection which doesen't recognize the results of my last one. The crew they've got running the parts department there is pretty lame, at the moment. I don't know if it's because of the weather, their age, their "Smart"phones or world events. I'm only dealing with them, because dealing with internet unknowns could end up making things much worse, as has happened in the recent past. If I manage to get that light on and pass inspection on time, I can then put all my efforts into getting rid of the car for a dignified price. The next owner can vacation in it and get between 8,000€ and 12,500€ rebate on either a new VW or Audi, after having owned it for a minimum of 6 months. If I float it in my name, he or she could get the rebate, in the name of Ivy, right away, since I've owned it for more than 6 months. I don't know how much higher the rebate would be, if the wagon were to get traded in on the more expensive Porsche, Lamborghinis or Bugattis, being that all belong to VW. That would certainly make mine more valuable, if the rebates were to be consecutively higher. Once I've gotten that out of the way, I'll see about getting it appraised and then go back to that dealer, to see what we can negotiate. Having only one month between inspection, repair and certification, I think, the best way to go about it would be to order the original bellows and then have them bled and pumped. Storing the car in a coll (temperaturewise) garage will prolong retaing the ride heighth. I'd then have up to a decade's time to secure both subframes from a TF. In fact, I'll go and check on new cradle availability
We've got these cute Blackbirds, all over, in this yard. Last week, they were busy building nests. I caught one, on video, stealing my window platform moss which muffles the rain dripping noise. That's perfecxtly okay, as long as they keep producing Blackbirds. Then, we have these black and white European-type Magpies of which the Blackbirds and Ringnecked Doves keep chasing them away from their nests, each and every morning. Their ruthlessness ticks me off. But, they also get hungry and I shouldn't be tampering with nature, to begin with. Fannie's going to think that I lost sex-appeal, from the way I keep house I had to film backwards, so that it didn't get scared off from noticing any movement, if I were to turn around
Within the next couple days thereafter, believe it or not, one of these blackbirds, together with a ring-necked dove and a sparrow chased off the evil magpie. I don't know if they kicked its @$$ bad enough to where it didn't show back up again for a while or if they killed it. I never have witnessed different species get together like that. But, it was cool. I got more pics of the car, yesterday as I dropped in 5€ into the 3-wheeler for a few drops, at these extortionate prices. It's now sitting outside of the carport. The owner didn't lie about it needing a new top. I just hope that a hardtop comes with it. There's also a dent. But, that's no big deal. It'll likely not be the first one, when it gets back on the road. They used some black putty to try, to seal a leak. Well, as long as it's still there, there's still a ray of hope
Hey!!! I was looking for this post! I haven’t done much to the Pontiac except keep it covered in the car port. But I did build her this!!!! I’m so excited! Look how far away from the house it is!!! Still waiting on the rest of the concrete to be poured. About 15’ leading into the garage. Need power too.
Yeah, it's a wagon. That's the same color my '70 2-door had. He'll end up liking the car, if he hasn't driven it yet
