They called this a wagon, so I've included it.

1972 Cadillac Custom Wagon Pirate Surf Mobile - sold for $9,900. Which is about $9,000 too much.

1985 Ford LTD Custom Station Wagon Family Truckster - sold for $28,600 to someone with more money than brains. It isn't even from the movie, but rather a "re-creation."

The buy of the entire auction. 1993 Chevrolet Caprice wagon. Sold for $3,520. Lot #13, which means it came up for sale about 10 minutes after the whole thing started on Monday of auction week.

Obligatory surf board probably added $10 to the price.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, here's another Nomad, a '55 Nomad custom, that sold for just under $200k at $196,900.

In this day and age, it would be safer to describe the engine as being era-correct, if Barrett wishes to avoid protests, picket signs, torches and pitchforks

I lived in the Phoenix valley for over 20 years and went to that auction for many years. There are (nearly) endless cars to look at. If in the area, be sure to hit up the Scottsdale Pavilions on Saturday evenings. Thanks for the pics!

I doubt Barrett worries about this much. There's a disclaimer in the boilerplate at the bottom of each description card stating basically "buyer beware" and that they're at the mercy of the seller as far as the car's description. I doubt any lawsuit against them would get very far. In short, if you're interested in a car, do your homework.

I think of every single one you have posted, this one surprises me the most. I can see (not understand, but see) why collectors will pay high dollar for a resto-modded car with miles-deep paint.

I can't see why someone would pay almost 19K for a '63 Chevy II, obviously original, with splatters and gas damage under the filler cap. I could have MAYBE seen 8.7K.

    Wow, just wow.

That was my thought exactly on that Nova. It's a good core to work from, but it needs a lot. Nearly $20k for it is amazing. What hope do any of us have in getting into this hobby?

Yeah plus don’t forget the “buyers” and “sellers” premium that you and the seller pay. Plus you also get to pay extra if you want it off at a certain hour, or time frame. I was in Phoenix last week at the Silver/MAG auction, and that 22,000 mile Bobcat woody that we’ve seen here shot up to $11,000 - reserve not met. A ‘76 Hornet wagon went for $4,500. That was a good buy. Buys in general are getting harder and harder to find.
