It is a bush production. It went into action with Obama, but was one of Bush's brain child blunders. And what usually happens is one president does something and if it ends up not being liked by the people then the next president gets the blame. I do not like Bush, nor do I trust the little weasel. And that, I feel, is all I should say on the matter. If anybody ever wishes to discuss politics, or any one of the sacred topics really, send me a message, PM or email.

Whether or not you like Bush is a personal matter, not a matter of fact. You may "love a good debate", but there is nothing to debate as to who's idea the Cash for Clunkers belongs to. The bill was co-sponsored by Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA) and Rep. Betty Sutton (D-OH), and passed the Senate .
The Senate voted 60-37 to approve the measure already passed by the House.
By a vote of 298-119, the House approved the "cash for clunkers" program.

The only thing that I will concede, is that some Republicans (RINO's) joined ranks with the Democrats to pass the bill, but it would have passed on the basis that all the Democrats were for it, even without the few Republicans voting with them. You have to remember that both house and senate were Democrat controlled.

Junk, I think you misunderstood me. I was accepting your evidence and only stating my feelings about Bush, which I understand now I shouldn't have. Living where I do should have taught me better than that. I was not asking for further evidence, although I will examine it. And for the "loving a good debate", that was an invitation to discuss anything out side of the forum... again, another mistake. I'm sorry for all this and it is my fault.

No apology necessary. You are correct, I did not understand you fully, however, I am certain that there are others that believe that the Cash for Clunkers was a good bill. I believe that it was well intentioned, but not thought out very clearly. Had the same amount of money been put into fixing, rebuilding, and extending our infrastructure, that would have created many more jobs, and have given a much needed boost to the economy. Instead, it sent a huge percentage of the dollars to foreign countries that produced the automobiles that were sold. Even the "foreign" brands that are "produced" in the US, they are produced with a great percentage of imported components from the foreign companies manufacturing plants in their home countries. Many countries around the world require a very high percentage of domestic content in the products that they manufacturer for domestic and export. As an example, here is a report on the Solar Energy Industry around the world, pointing out the countries that are now using "protectionism" as a way to keep jobs from going to other countries. click here.
