Yeah....take your time and shop those haulers. They will get a bid to you in 24 hours. Did you see Krash's suggestion above? I hope the seller is letting you leave it there for awhile while you get organized.

It has a 2 barrel carb atm .. but I am eyeballing that Edlebrock carb that those guys put in the 76 an hour away from me. I may just go offer those guys like $ 300 for the carb the wheels the windshield the 3rd seat and the taillight covers. When they say no (like I expect them to ) I plan to offer them 500 for the whole thing. When they complain about that (Like I think they will ) I will probably just show them the printout of the Ebay results where I got a MUCH nicer car at a much better cost. Well see what they say then...

Yes you're right I am going to sink a ton into getting it detailed like mad by the way. Having it cleaned up as much as possible and pristine is my goal.

Also as per suggestions round these parts I sent Hullinger a PM I am hoping he has some sage wisdom regarding a mover for my new wagon.

Oh and yeah the guy in Portland (I dont like calling him the owner - I am the owner lol!) said he can help me with storing it as long as I want. of course I want my new car here since yesterday tho!

To each his own. Me? I would leave it as stock as possible. Those original hub caps look like they would clean up really nice. To me....the car is worth much more....especially a 74 Mat....if it's a really nice stock example. Hey...even the seat cloth is original!

I just had a brainstorm tho!

    This may require a bit of a back-story ...

I am the VP of sales & training for a small ADT dealership in Tampa. Recently I secured the home of a Truck broker for a very good price since all he really cared about was protecting his 2 little girls. I took care of him and he was very happy.

    2 weeks later...

I secured the home of an independent owner/operator of his own rig and took good care of him since he was on the fence and I am usually agressive about going after buisness, he wound up very happy.

    This morning...

I got a call from the independent trucker asking me if I could hook him up with my broker customer. I said sure let me just get his permission to give you his number (Something the trucker and I had discussed as a possibility anyhow a few weeks earlier.) I called the broker and he said sure np have the guy call me, I'll take care of him!

    Now my evil plan...

One of these guys should know someone who will find it worthwhile to transport my little bullfighter home to me at a pretty reasonable rate ... dontcha think?:thumbs2:

I am going to call them both tomorrow and see whats up...

I think it's a helluva idea, Lex. Truckers can do amazing things in the network.

Don't the private truckers run ads, with terms like deadheading or something like that?

I used to ship a semi-full of clock cases to Chicago every week from Calgary, Alberta. A normal rate was $15,000. The Chicago-based contractor took a load of oil-drilling machinery to Northern Alberta weekly, and picked up my load to go back home, for about $6,500. Back in the early '80s.

Lex, I used uShip to get my wagon from CA to TX. You post your specifics and what you want to pay. Transporters bid on your job. You can check their feedback. It works.

I found this wonderful guy with an enclosed trailer...very reasonable, and he worked hard to get my beast aired up, running and loaded.
    The best!

I got contacted by like 25 shippers today I am working out which ones I will be winnowing down to talk to seriously I want like a list of 3 to choose from.

Rates seem expensive.... Lowest so far was like 750 and highest so far was about 1300.

I contacted my broker buddy and he and I are going to work on this at 9 am tomorrow. I spoke to 2 truckers I know and they both said use the broker buddy if you can.

I just posted on deadheading.com to see what results I get there. Otherwise I am still just working away at it and eagerly anticipating it all.

Make sure you tell them it's NOT just an old car. It's an old collector car and needs to be handled carefully.
