Thanks Rob, it is already in my favourite list! It is really frustrated when you have set your self to buy a classic wagon but need to sell your own wagon as first!
I just saw that the 1972 Chrysler T&C is probably sold! But it seems that the market is back up again as new cars are coming onto the market again. What do you think about this 1966 Dodge Polara:

Government taxes over in Europe are outrageous! That is why. Cars, oil, and goods cost roughly the same to get to market, but their EU-run governments, and ridiculous regulations place huge, burdensome taxes on everything...

But, they have "free" healthcare:rofl: for all they fork out in taxes!

Kingswood, this is the link to the 72 Torino. It was my mistake, it is advertised as a 1971, but I knew this is the wrong year, but instead of saying 72 I wrote 70:

Patrick: Although in some countries healthcare is free, like Sweden and Italy, in Holland we have to have an obligatory health insurance. Costs for me, my wife and little son is about 210 euro's/month!

This morning I went to have a second look at the 1965 Mercury Colony Park and the 1981 Pontiac Bonneville Safari. Two weeks ago I went there as well, but it was closed.

First the Mercury. I really like the model! I never seen one up close but I really like the simple straight lines and the simple dash. It is low priced and it includes the LPG conversion, but this is not the car for me. For a restore project it would be great. It is a bit scruffy, but it is absolutely not rotted, but has surface rust all over. For me this would mean a respray and that is not what I am looking for. Although the headliner was ok, I saw pretty severe pitting of the chrome strips that hold it, so I guess one time this car has been exposed to a humid enviroment, at least inside (maybe because of the cracked windshield?). I bet you would find surface rust behind the healiner and the door panels as well, and knowing that, I wouldn't be able to just leave that. A project car, I would say.

Then the Pontiac, really nice car with everything electric and working. Looks really neat, including the wood and trim. It's a canadian build car, and originally sold in Switserland. (they used Canadian cars for that, as it had the speedo in km/h). Only 120k km. The only minus I could find was a sagging headliner! But then the engine. It is the 301 Pontiac block. Only 135 hp and with a car weighing around 2000kg, I would have exactly the same combo as the 88 Caprice with the 307 olds engine! The 301 is not really famous and was even elected as being the worst designed engine by Car & Craft. Further it is pobably ECM controlled which means more difficult to tweak right for LPG. The low power of these engine is exactly what I don't want anymore. Really ashame as the car looks really good (and it has the overdrive trans)

So at this moment I have two favourites; the 1968 Ford LTD Country Squire and the 1978 Chrysler Lebaron T&C. The T&C has the 318 engine that puts out about 145hp, but as the car weighs about 1650kg, it is a better combo then the Caprice or Bonneville. Almost full optioned, even with the leather upholstery. The smaller size is also more handy for daily driver here in Europe (parking spaces etc).
The Ford has the 390 engine, so no problem there! No ECM or other emission stuff, so easy to maintain. Of course a much more classic model, but less optioned. Less easy in daily use eg no headrests, double seatbelts etc.

So actually I am in the classic difficulty of choosing the best daily driver!
I hope you guys don't get bored by my stories, just wanted to keep you up to date of the search!

    but boring???:naughty:...hell no!!

i find your search and all the 'inspectionBS' you have to consider...quite enlightning:yup:

sometimes i wish that i wasnt so loyal to my 50/60's Ford/Merc
...it would be nice to just go looking for a wagon like you..as opposed to 'specific' stuff.
    but then....i'd have 199 cars!!:p

Ugh that must suck when it's forced up on you. Sure you want to have it but things that are forced taste very bad. Like the TV license cost (that being obligatory TV fee)...

    Cheers Dyna
