Who knew! Our University of Winnipeg has its own Weather Station, right downtown. Their Geography Dept. runs a website with more ways to look at weather than even most governments care about. The Airport has one of our main Federal weather stations and there's also one for the City's Inner core. The normal temperature difference between downtown and the airport runs from 2 to 4 degrees Centigrade (3F to 6F) higher in the city (winds, open range, etc.).

What's neat about this site, besides all the graphs, are all the weather links to major weather sites in Canada and the US.

What caught my eye this morning was one image of an Infrared map from the University Of Wisconsin! So I went to their website. Their Space Science & Eng. run it.

And on the Local Weather map, they give you info by County!

Since both Universities leave forecasting to the witchdoctors, uh forecasters, on commercial networks, you just get Mother Nature's factual info, and lots of it.

And for any of you road warriors, here's another non-commercial weather-info source for almost every place in North America. Its a huge hobby and they encourage amateurs to connect their backyard weatherstations with them too.

You getting it up your way, too?

Finally our turn to get a bit of snow. 1-3" expected before it turns back to rain again.

The view out my back door:

Thought I'd add myself to the list.
The wagon is safely stowed away in the garage. My truck gets to stay out side and blend in with it's surroundings.

This was our first snow about a week and a half ago. It's snowing again right now. It's been going off and on all day. We're supposed to get about 3-5 inches. We'll see.

Thanks. We live in a nice little residential neighborhood and I'd say probly about half the homes have some type of outdoor Christmas lights. We like it. The little one really enjoys em.

Thanks for the compliment on the truck too. It's a 78 F-250 crew cab. My Dad had a 1979 F-250 crew cab for my entire childhood (along with the 64 Plymouth Wagon). As with many little boys I wanted to have a truck like my Dad. It stuck and I've always had a love for that vintage Ford truck.
About 4 years ago I found this truck locally for $300. It didn't even run when I bought it, but I had my dream truck. A little blood sweat and tears (ok, A LOT) and now it's my daily driver. So now I'm all grown up, and Funny thing is, I have the same Plymouth wagon we had when I was a kid and I also got the truck. I guess some dreams do come true.

OK, we are getting hit pretty hard. I had the snow blower out at 11pm lastnight and cleaned out a place to back the car in and unload the groceries. Took us 45 minutes to get home from the grocery store which is only 17 miles away. it was blowing so hard that it was white outs and the roads were slick as ice. Then at 4:45am the wife woke me up to take her to work, so both cars were cleaned off. I just took these pics with my cell, when I let the dog out. The snow you see on them is only 6 hours old and it is comin down hard still. I say we have almost 18 inches of new snow since 11ish lastnight when we got home.

Way up there, you cant really see it well(about 200 yards past the farthest maple on the left center of the pic), is where my driveway ends at the street. Its just over 1/10 mile long and up hill. I plowed snow over the bumper this morning to get the wife to work.

Stay home, Scott. Bring a shovel and flares man. That's not driving weather.

Yup, thats stay home weather Black, but you seem to be like me and will be out there to pic your honey up no matter what it takes.

Last Decemer we had that kind of snow, busses were getting shut down, power outs and my kid was working till 9pm. Took almost 3 hours to get her and get back home on a trip that should be 45 minutes. Snow was so thick I was driving home on the highway with the window open having to grab and snap the wiper every time it came back up.

I have to go get the wife Normy, I have no choice, worse thing is, I have to take the babies with me to go get her. It is only just under 2 miles, but its all up hill on the way there and its a big hill, it seems even bigger when you are going down it on the way back.

Pretty my ass, that is ugly in its truest form! I will take the cold over all this damn snow any day. Don't have to shovel or snow blow cold.

Thats right Tedy, and I will venture out in any weather to get the woman, besides its her day to do the dishes and I will face a tornado head on before I let her get out of that damn chore! I would rather drag my 3rd member through a mile of broken glass then do anymore dishes then I have to, we take turns and its hers today! :thumbs2:

Next time, bring a toboggan on the roof, so she can slide down the hill to the wagon! :biglaugh:

Still, bring a shovel. Have you got a thick, 30 foot rope? I don't envy you. You can be the best winter driver in the world and some rookie will still screw things up. Good thing you know how.
