When I was 18, young, and stupid, I was taking a high school friend of mine to prom (May 1997) because her BF dumped her the week before. So I picked her up in my 4 year old ex-rental Dodge Dynasty and we were going to go pick up my tux rental and a few things for after. We're headed down the road, and we were talking, and I lingered a little too long looking in her doe eyes and sweet cheeks and BAM!!!

40mph right into the back of a stopped '97 Grand Prix sedan on a test drive from the local B-O-P dealer. It was still new. Wrappers on the seats. Floormats in the trunk. Plastic on the steering wheel. Bumper pushed up under the back window from my dumbassery.

My date wasn't amused, but she also wasn't hurt or anything and she didn't hold it against me. Well, she did, but that's another story for another crowd and another time and I'm not defining what "it" was.

We rode with another couple to prom in a decidedly less nice car, '88 Cavalier wagon with no muffler and lots of scabby rust and scrapes.

Wow, that brings back a memory. I was 16, driving my dad's brand new '78 Buick LeSabre with my girlfriend to a Ranger game. We were talking and listening to the radio, and I took my eyes off the road as we crept along in bumper to bumper traffic in light rain. I drove into the back of all things - a '74-6 Pontiac Grand Safari! D'oh! What a sickening feeling! It wasn't a very hard hit, but as I braked, my front end lowered, and the huge rear bumper totally took out the grille of my dad's Buick. THAT was not a fun phone call. The Pontiac wasn't hurt bad, and I remember he called my dad and told him not to worry about it.

If that were today he would have sued you and had your liscense taken away til you were thirty claiming a spinal injury and black outs. Differences of the world in short time.
