That five nine looks fine! Question: The 2 radio antennas.....are they both hooked up? Is reception better with both of them than if just 1 was hooked up?

    Thank you.
Yes, both antennas are hooked up. I have no idea if the reception is better. I assume it would be, but I don't know. I also assume it was more for aesthetic purposes. If you notice in the photos they don't match. Neither is correct for this car. We have new "correct" antennas ready to be installed. I'll post some photos once they are on the car.

Just an observation: my favorite year of Chebby is 1959, because of the cat's-eye taillights. But I'm totally digging the 1959 Ford, because I just noticed, the rear design treatment gives it an 'owl' look to it. That painted pic exaggerates it just a bit, but a very cool look, nonetheless.

A lot of cars back in the 50's and 60's had two rear mounted antennas. I believe they were just for looks and to keep the car from leaning to one side.

I hadn't noticed two on the Fairlane till you mentioned it. From the old CB days beam antennas, those with more than one verticle pole in line with others, helped direct a stronger beam. Perhaps they will get distant stations clearer if parked sideways to the radio station.o_O

In my opinion I believe you should be placed in the paddy wagon and cut down on your bird seed diet.

    Alright, I have a question for y'all.

First, I should preface it with a little background info.
I will be taking the Fairlane to a local shop Monday to have all of the brakes, suspension, steering etc looked at. They'll take care of fixing/maintaining/updating things so we can be confident in it going down the road and being safe once spring rolls around.

While the car is there I am thinking about having the wheels powdercoated.
So here's my question: what about red wheels?
The original color of the wheels on this car is black. That is how most of the cars I see are done, with black wheels.
However, I am thinking about going with red. I know that the hub caps will cover the majority of the wheel leaving only a thin strip of color, but I have seen this on other cars and I like it.

So, it would be subtle, not necessarily original, but I think It would look cool.

Here's one with the red wheels:

What do you think? I want to hear your opinions.
