i had to place a 3/8" steel shim shim between the inner chassis and the steering rack mounting brackets on both sides

I talked to several who had the rack and pinion setups installed by others. Only one mentioned flexing. I forgot the best brand a few Chevy owners bragged about.
If I don't get off my butt I'll never get the wagon back on the road. Still haven't gotten the AC lines crimped.

    borgerson steering box

Had a 605 power box in my 56 wagon and hated it. Car drifted all over the road. Installed a borgeson power steering box with an Ididit tilt steering column. I could not be any happier as to the steering on the wagon. It is outstanding. I believe you can use the stock steering wheel with this column. What ever box you do select, make sure you install a front stabilizer bar. If you do decide on the borgeson box you must dimple the top of the frame where the steering box mounts.

Thanks ssrodder. These are the things I like to read.
Right now we are in the middle of moving yet not really moving very fast so everything is on hold. At least for now I can steer the wagon.:character0182:
I will check on the Borgeson power steering box.

Just saw a red SSR yesterday in our small town. Used to be several. Now it's rare.
