Paul's belt on his 1999 Jag came loose when we were on the freeway heading toward Santa Monica. The car started to quickly overheat. I thought the engine was going to lunch! Now we are down to one car (the Squire). I guess having the Squire as a daily driver isn't too bad, but I really don't want to see a lot of miles on it.

 

Once upon a time, carrying a spare belt was enuff to get one going again. Try replacing a modern vehicle's serpentine belt without proper tools and plenty of time. At least, the Squire has a few belts turning simultaneously. When you have only one belt powering everything, the entire system gets shut down, as soon as it snaps
