    This Oklahoma newspaper photograph contains retired Texas Ranger Ben Preston of Dodge City, Kansas, with his custom roadster that according to the article he “put together piece by piece to suit his own taste.” The September 11, 1938 press release with the image also states, “he never did like the way standard automobiles were built,” and this was his idea of how a car should appear.
