He had a long standing relationship with Ford. In 1953 he was commissioned to do the 50 year anniversary calendar.

An interesting GM film from 1970, about making a concerted effort to ship cars in a timely manner, and to protect them from damage, vandalism and theft. Lots of then-fresh vehicular eye candy to ogle.

Thanks for posting. All of those delicious ‘71’s. Love that almost every desk had a big ashtray. They locked up the Cadillacs and Vegas. Sumpen wrong with that picture. It amazes me that with the logistics issues, damage, on and off the line, and the pattern bargaining these companies even lived through the ‘70’s not even to mention EPA and National Highway Safety Administration on their ass at every turn.

Cool video. Love how at the very end of the video when they mention the importance of getting the GM cars out to the dealers, it is a truck load of Dodge and Plymouth station wagons that is shown moving down the highway.

Yeah. Loved that too! GM made several videos during this time period. There’s also a great one circa 1972 about the need for their UAW workers to show up on time, give the company a full days work etc etc. it also mentions the creep of foreign imports and the impact on GM, and potential fall out for the line guys. Guess they were still smarting from the strike of ‘70. Chrysler was in the barrel for ‘73.
