    It took the interstate system, to make that monstrosity safer. Well, at least for anyone not partying in the second story bar

    The car is a '58 Chevrolet. The Federal Aid Highway Act was signed in '56. Dad and I had extensively discussed the Interstate Highway System after the I-5 bridge collapse a few years ago, considering the collapse was caused by an overheight load.

    The roads didn't just appear overnite. Most weren't completed until the mid 60's and they were still building them into the mid to late 80's. Some are even being built today.
