Yup. That went for a fair number of years, until '88 or '89, I think.

Remember how I've said I owned a '75 Caddy Seville and a '74 Ranchero Squire?

Happened on Wednesday. Me, My 2 brothers and a friend were loading his newly purchased 1980 Thunderbird on my trailer to tow it to his house (had kept it at my house for a couple days until he had a place to put it). We hear squealing tires, a huge crash, and see a shower of sparks. I thought 2 cars had hit each other head on. We all run down the driveway to see what's going on. Luckily it was just a red Acura that had nailed the power pole next to our fence, breaking the pole and causing the lines to hang over the road. A couple in their late 20s/early 30s climbs out. Cant tell if they're strung out or scared to death, but they're in a huge hurry to get away. They leave on foot, I call 911, everyone's there in less than 5 mins. (Not bad considering we're in the country at 10pm) The neighbor and I got close to the car with lights to make sure there wasn't anyone else inside. A couple mins later, just the guy comes back with his grandpa, says he "lost control attempting a U-turn" (gee I wonder how that went on a 2 lane road at over 70mph) and that he was the only one in the vehicle. Police tell us to stay on the opposite side of the road from our house because the pole was leaning over the road and the wires were still live. Finally the cops took everyone's statements and they got the story straight. They located the girl, arrested her for multiple warrants, the guy got a laundry list of tickets and was allowed to go home, which surprised me.

We watched the power company install the new pole even though we were allowed to go home, but why? No electricity makes for a boring night. All 4 of us stayed out until 4:30 am. Power was turned back on at 6am, and it was business as usual from there.

At least it gave me a good opportunity to use my new camera.
