The original TV serial was re-released on DVD not that long ago. It went up on the shelf beside my battered VHS copy. If you get the chance, check it out. Way better than that crappy Hollywood butchering of the story. I'm hoping for a Blu-Ray release one of these days with remastered audio. I could watch it over and over again. As a side bonus it puts my wife to sleep faster than any drug ever could. :biglaugh:

I feel the love! Thanks Tedy again. I think! Can't you find a cuter bird that fits my wonderful personality? :yahoo:

Of course you would post the link to episode 1 part 1 so now I'll spend the next three weeks looking at the entire series. It better all be on Youtube. I don't want to get halfway through and then need to go buy the book. There won't be many copies of the book left once the Earth is blown up to make way for an interstellar bypass.

I'm all about the sharing! You'll love it all the way through. It's almost identical to the radio serial and follows the book VERY closely. Mark Wing-Davey is the epitomal Zaphod Beeblebrox. I could go on about it for more time than it would take to watch it. It's better than the movie in pretty much every way. There are a lot of great cameos in there as well. Peter Davison has an extremely hard to find appearance, and even Douglas Adams appears in it several times.

Looks like it follows the book very closely, thus it will take as long to watch as it took to read the book. I've watched the first two episodes so far. Thanks for the link.
The Hitch Hikers Guide wasn't the first of the four books in the trilogy that I read. I read, "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish" first. I can't sleep on a plane, so my brother gave me the book to read. I was on the red-eye flight from Honolulu to L.A.. It was about 3:30 in the morning, and I was about the only passenger still awake on the plane. What a strange feeling it was to turn the page to Chapter 29 and read the entire chapter, in the single line as follows,
" "This is an important announcement. This is flight 121 to Los Angeles. If your travel plans today do not include Los Angeles, now would be the perfect time to disembark." "

    It's Hell To Get Old

Two medical students were walking along the street

when they saw an old man walking with his legs spread

apart. He was stiff-legged and walking slowly.

One student said to his friend: "I'm sure that poor old

man has Peltry Syndrome. Those people walk just like that."

The other student says: "No, I don't think so.

The old man surely has Zovitzki Syndrome.
He walks slowly and his legs are apart, just as we learned in class."

Since they couldn't agree they decided to ask the old man.

They approached him and one of the students said to him, "We're
medical students and couldn't help but notice the way you
walk, but we couldn't agree on the syndrome you might have.
Could you tell us what it is?"

The old man said, "I'll tell you, but first you tell me what you two fine medical students think."

The first student said, "I think it's Peltry Syndrome."
The old man said, "You thought - but you are wrong."
The other student said, "I think you have Zovitzki Syndrome."
The old man said, "You thought - but you are wrong."
So they asked him, "Well, old timer, what do you have?"

    The old man said,

"I thought it was GAS - but I was wrong, too!"

It does follow pretty closely, but as with most screen renditions, it cuts corners. The whole thing is only a little over 3 hours.
