    Sitting here on Vancouver Island, in the warm sunshine, base ball diamonds behind my house full of kids leagues playing with the smell of burgers already @10AM from the parks public rot dogs, burgers, fries, pop, milk shakes, ice cream building....BTW me and the boys for years have made it a tradition on weekends to walk over at lunch, burger for me, 2 hot dogs no buns for the boys eat and watch the games for a bit, walk home the grueling 2 minutes, procrastinate about working on the wagons, get the weed wackier and lawn mover out grab a brew from my ice packed cooler in the driveway, BUT I won't be picking dandelions:cussing:, this is how I get rid of them

    BTW...... Tank tops/wife beater shirts were never my thing,,that and trust me...you DON'T want to see me in a tank top!:49:


    But for real, I do feel bad for al those on the east coast....man what a ****** winter/spring:banghead3:

    That's gotta be heavy! I wouldn't want to drive under that overpass about then.
    Was that boat on water or on a trailer? Looks like tugboat ahead in the distance.

    Water channel going over the road. I hear there's a few of these around Europe. So, for you physics geniuses......Would the big boat going through the channel create an additional 'load' for the supporting structure of the channel, or do they only have to worry about the weight of the water?

    I vote for the water. (y)
    The weight of the ship is bourne by the entire body of water, it isn't localized the way a heavy truck on a road would be.
    It's like running or jumping in an airplane......

    As a physics genius, a retired space scientest, and part time brain surgeon I can tell you that the weight of the water plus the weight of the ship is creating a heavy load on that bridge structure.
    If you doubt this swim under a large boat and try to lift it out of the water. ;)
    The last time I ran and jumped in an airplane I was running to visit my friend Jack. I mistakenly yelled "Hi Jack." After the pain of the shock gun subsided I can't remember much!:rofl2:
    I was actually thinking I've seen that channel before someplace. It looks like the Love Boat headed out on a three hour tour!

    .Some of us get it while others scratch body parts and doubt us!:dancing:
    About now Pinebox is in some gator infested pond trying to lift a canoe out of the water!:)

    Way back when I started working outside in winters I've used Chapstick. Today my wife wanted to borrow it. Man it's been quiet all day so far.
    There was a nice cartoon of an old geezer who handed his wife a glue stick instead of chapstick. It seems to be gone.

    When you're underwater and you feel a boat going over you, you're feeling PRESSURE, not weight.
    The weight of the boat is borne by the entire body of water.
    Look it up.
    I'll weight.

    Just weight a minute! Or wait.
    If I was in the water and a boat was going over me I'd feel scared and my swimsuit would get dirty! Now that's what I call pressure.
    So you're sayin if there were 100 boats in a small lake the lake would not be any heavier? :49:
    Is this salt water or fresh water? Also a boat would sit higher in muddy swamp water than clear spring water.

    Note the word 'displaced."
    100 boats would make the water level rise a little bit, equal to the volume of the boats.
    These are boats on water, not trucks on a road.
    The rules are different.

    Archimedes figured this out a long time before Cat was born:

    Any object, wholly or partially immersed in a fluid, is buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.

    Y'all are getting way too deep for me and besides my Mississippi public high school edumacation only goes so far...I mostly rely on my stunning Brad Pitt like looks to get me through life! :biglaugh::biglaugh::rofl2::rofl2:
