All of you sailors, how did they get that big boat in and out from shore?
That one cable sure wouldn't be enough to tow it.

And who knows what those small outhouse looking things are? Appear to be storage units.

Thanks. Those were my guesses but wasn't sure.

Apparenty more service men were coming off ships farther out. Or did they have this special ability to walk on water!
I do know that the bikes with balloon tires could do it.

Wow, a lot of history on that beach!

Up until very recently, a good friend of mine was a Director for the Juno Beach Centre Association. He was responsible in part for managing the museum that is now a little further down the beach from where that photo was taken. Each year he would organize a trip to take school teachers on a guided tour of Juno Beach and a number of surrounding locations of historical interest. Along with the teachers they would take as many veterans as they could round up both to let them return to where they fought as well as to lend additional history to the tours.
    http://www.junobeach.org/about-us/

On two occasions he's been stunned to witness veterans walking on that very beach in the photo seemingly lost. They would walk a few feet, look around, and then walk a few feet more as though they were searching for something that couldn't be found. The first time it happened he went to the vet to see if he was alright. The fellow smiled at him and said simply "This is the spot!". With some encouragement he revealed that he was now happily standing on the same spot that he had been standing on when he was shot 65 years ago!

    Could have sold it ?

I did something stupid and now it bit me in the rear! Middle of June sold our RV camper because we stopped using it. The roof had leaked and caused the floor to rot. A local guy came over and wanted it. I asked $1000 but agreed to sell for $750. Title is misplaced so said I'd apply for lost title after he pays me. Works out of town and won't have money till end of June. Wanted to take RV home to fix floor to use it to live in while on jobs. Nice guy. Smooth talker. I wanted the RV gone so said okay pay me in two weeks.:banghead3:
July and he called. Pay you tomorrow. August and I'll be over tomorrow to pay. This wasn't lookin good!
September, this afternoon. County policeman stopped over wanting to know if someone stole my RV. Well sorta I said. I explained. Need to file a report. I know that and also knew it wasn't worth the time and money.
Mr Fast talker traded my RV for a closed cargo trailer. Guy that has RV wants title. Same excuses from Mr F---. We talked about rednecks, crooks, good ole boys, and old cars.
I could be arrested for murder or drugs and I'd end up talkin old cars!;)

Policeman gonna retire in a year. Looking for an old car or wagon. We looked in garage at my 55 Chevy wagon and 48 Chevy panel truck.
"What you want for that Nomad? I want that." After looking it over and kicking him out of my garage he still wants to buy my Chevy wagon! I locked the garage. A really nice guy and a waste of an hour of County time.
Almost forgot. I can go get my RV but the guy where it is now might be upset and not let me take it. Legally it's mine.
The fast talker has been in trouble with the law so much the deputy has no idea how he and his brother stay out of jail. They also just closed down his brothers jiffy-Lube type muffler shop thing. Something about cheating customers.

I grew up in a Southern town where NFL type American football is practically a religion.
No, actually football tops Jesus (just a little. Jesus loves football too, I've been told) in most of the south.
Now NFL inc. football is on the TV almost every night.
People are watching games from years ago, just to....
    What?
    Make NFL inc. richer?
I have never understood the fascination that mature, grown, otherwise intelligent adults find with watching grown men fight over a ball that isn't round, beat each other half to death on a grassy field that isn't grass, just to what?
    Sell cheap beer and cars?
The players aren't from the town that owns the football franchise, so they aren't playing for the "home team", They're just workers earning a HUGE paycheck.
So why does anyone care when the Buccaneers score more points than the Bengals?
Except for the millionaires who own the teams, of course.

Yea PineBox, or is that SoapBox? When I was young kids grew up rooting for their team and some even got to play for their favorite team. They'd work hard and play hard for the team they loved.
Now that same kid is bought and sold to the owner with the most money and that same kid is expected to bust his butt to help the team he is now on beat the team he loved!
As far as ball games.....there is no such thing as cheap beer at a ball park.

I'd rather watch reality TV.... Or nothing at all.

Post#1931.......... Don't believe I've ever seen a moving van like that.

    Wow! Thanks for that link!

As a former Corvair owner, I don't really agree with converting them to front engine, but you've got to give kudos to that guy for the engineering he did. Certainly wouldn't have guessed that you could put a G-body frame underneath them. I would have thought the body would be too narrow.
