It's amazing how they made my eyes water and clean my ears out at the same time.

    :coffee:From St Petersburg, Florida:
Why wasn't Nicastro arrested? The police saw the 'smoking gun'.
Was it because he had a CCW?
Was he an off duty law enforcement officer who received 'professional courtesy?'
Or do the Pinellas County cops just hate chickens?

    Nobody's saying, yet.

That's a sad story. One neighbour up here about 4 doors away has a few chickens and a small rooster. So far, its been too cold to leave him out for the winter, but he'll be out soon.

Some kids started a trash bin fire behind his house in the alley, and burned his old chicken roost and a small vineyard that he had about 2 years ago. He's since rebuilt everything and we'll be enjoying that country feel, again.

Too bad, linky no workee. It must be out of date.
The Girlfriend has six chickens now, up from three, so we'll be getting LOTS of eggs.
She tried rabbits, but the male was shy, and the female wouldn't take care of the babies anyway.
They sure tasted good, though. I'm trying to get her to give it another go, but she hates killing animals, so rabbits probably won't happen.
I hafta admit, I have no problem gutting a fish, but a furry bunny, or even a chicken is a different story.

We were watching Hell's Kitchen last nite, and the chef was giving a chopping tutorial. My wife is an expert, and I learned to kill them my dad's old chop-chop way (yuk) and later some communal-farm friends showed me the neck-twist way.

Dad's way meant holding the neck and chopping. You're stuck with a n(d)ick in your hand and a bloody chicken running around with its head cut off! Messy!

The neck-twist way is less brutal, and the meat isn't as tough. Plucking them is still a PITA, either way. :D

After the head is gone plucking goes pretty well if the body is immersed in boiling water for 3 minutes first.

    Don't ask how I know this.:D
