That is really cool Pine, now that is something I'll see while walking along the lake trail that's minutes away from me.....A Cougar on the other hand is a real possibility and I'm not talking about one the kind that wants you buy them a couple drinks, but that could happen also I guess.:rofl2:

Pinebox did you go down and pet the little lizzard?
And personally I'd rather buy a cougar a drink than mess with any of those other critters. Rumor has it there are a few cougars roaming the game preserve near us. I do know those gators hang out near the Suwannee river.
Bt we didn't even see any Easter Wabbits.

No, but the mortician offered his wife one.

About 20 years ago, my Dad was living in Oregon. 10 acre homestead and almost self sufficient. They spent about $50 a month at the grocery store. Big garden, orchard, spring house, goats, ducks, geese, chickens etc.

The coons kept getting at his chickens. One nite the dog was raising a ruckus and had something treed. Dad grabbed his gun, shined the light up, and fired at the glowing eyes. Out of the tree drops a dead cougar. He was all excited and called a friend who did some trapping. Wanted him to help skin it so he could get it tanned. Friend said it's illegal to kill em, the fine is huge, and he better dispose of it. Dad dug a big hole and buried it. He's dead now, so they can't bother him.

These reptiles don't much like to be petted, but I've been told that they like being sung to.
Luckily, I taught my hound to sing, and I think he sounds a lot like Roy Orbison.
The 'gator didn't seem to agree with me, and he went for a swim as soon as the music started.

What do you expect from a Florida Gator?
    Not musical taste, I guess.

We have a machine beside the bed that plays rain, waterfall, and yes, frogs and crickets to help us sleep.
It helps to cover up the sound of sirens, helicopters, and drag racing motorcycles.

PineBox, you do know that Gators love dogs for snacks? A friend up near the Chattahoochie River lost his dog as did several other neighbors. A few dogs had collars with metal detector radio thingies in them. Back in the swamp was a large Gator going BEEP BEEP BEEP! He was full of dog collars. :slap:

We also have small frogs that sing much of the night, as well as Hootie Owls. First light the Crows begin. But we aren't complaining. Sure better than gun shots, sirens, and people screaming. :thumbs2:

Tedy, Tedy, Tedy...your always thinking about your stomach! There will be no stewing of the frogs in my back yard. However the frogs in your area are huge. Now THEY would be good on your BBQ.

    See Pinebox's link.

You know, a guy told me once that elephants don't like the smell of radishes. So I planted some in my garden, and I haven't seen one elephant since.......
