This has got to be very very old. No cell phones, lap tops, I-Pods, etc.
And one of those blondes looks like my wife when we first met in 1920.

 

Today is the first parade of the Mardi Gras season...

 

We were without power yesterday, from around 6:00AM to 4:30PM. It was kind of surprising to find out how dependent we were on electricity. No cooking (electric stove). House got down to 58* inside, before the power came back on - and we have a very well-insulated house. I really feel for those in older houses that have to go through this. Finally ventured out with a friend in the afternoon to get some supplies. Lots of tree limbs down across the city, particularly the older parts. Went to Wally World to find a propane burner in the camping section. Had to buy a cheap 2-burner camp stove. Of course, before we were ready to use it, the power came back on (Yeah!).

I've recently been reading a fiction book series that tells the aftermath of a nuclear strike on the U.S., with a bomb detonated in space that sends a E.M.P. (electromagnetic pulse) burst all over the country, virtually frying every electric/electronic device. The scenario (if accurate) virtually destroys the country.

Not that I'm turning into a 'survivalist', but I do think I should at least prepare better for times like these. I used to laugh at those doomsday prepper people. I'm not laughing so much any more.

 

Marshall my wife is a prepper and I often give her a hard time (lovingly) about all the doomsday stuff. Several of her predicted "dates" have come and gone without so much as a small ground tremor. That being said I let her spend money and time perparing for the worst, our front closet is filled top to bottom with what they call "run pack" materials. We have provision for almost any kind of mayhem that might insue...I too have changed my thinking about this subject as well...but don't tell my wife, it still gives me something to kid her about.
