They have a dead link to a BATCatalog, so I went to the BAT site, and lo and behold there's all kinds of Performance goodies for Pintos, Focus, Contour, Fiesta, ESCORTS, etc. including the 2.3 V4 for the Fairmont/Zephyr wagons - stuff I never knew about! Imagine some OOMPH and Gas Mileage at the same time!!! :D

Not yet! I'm going to find the best machine-shop I can, here, then a good 2.3 V4, and transmission, rear-end, suspension and fuel/ignition system before I do anything! I'm still leaning to a 1995-96 2.3 Diesel, but if I can do up a strong Gasoline 2.3 with EFI or SEFI, and beef it up to 150 HP or the 134 HP that the 302 had, I may go that way. I don't want a rocket, just a greener engine with 'adequate power', to quote old Rolls Royce sales literature. :)

Cool I think that is a great idea. I would like a diesel in mine but right now diesel fuel is 20-30 cents higher than gasoline

Well, with the Diesel, you can burn Stove Oil, restaurant grease, pure ethanol made from newsprint or weeds or straw.

Yeah! With the V4's running so smooth, it just doesn't make sense to haul around 4 more pistons to get the same power without the fuel waste from a V4. I figure it'll cost a few G's but now that the body is secure, why not!

Reb, I like saving money and if I can get control of the basics that we need to live, water, food, fuel, etc. I'll dig for every bone I can find.

These are some good sources of general info. Then you have to see how you can make it work within your limits. I started with the house utilities and shaved off about $300 per month (Water, Natural Gas and Hydro), then I went for the car. I figure I'll save about $150 /month in gasoline with this 6 cylinder.

It's not that I'm cheap. It's that I don't see why my wife should have less than the wives of the CEOs at the utility companies or the OilCos.
