I may still have my civil defense card somewhere with other momentos. When I was in high school, our Explorer post took civil defense training aloong with the local fire department and we all received our certifications. This was before the Cuban Missile Crisis, but we were all prepared as much as one could be. Heady times then, when schools ran drills where you hid under your desk in case of a nuclear attack.

 

By the late Seventies, CD was no more, having been rolled into FEMA when that law was passed, and we all didn't care because we knew it was all over if a nuclear exchange happened.

 

Back then, there were plenty of drugs to go around, so that all of that nuclear over-armament didn't make much of a difference anymore I didn't even know a F.E.M.A. even existed, until they started setting up internment camps, several years ago

 

Wow. That's the nicest-looking FEMA internment camp I've ever seen....

 

I would love one of these in a GMC configuration, and I even like the color.
