I would like to restore it. Replace the worn out parts with some good ones...

Sounds like a good plan. Are you going for a complete restoration? Or just a mechanical restoration?

I guess a little of both. I really only want to replace, or restore, what is worn out. For example, my steering wheel has cracks in it. I would want to either fix it or replace it with a better one - but I would not want a modern-type steering wheel.

Sounds like a good course of action. Keep as much original as possible, and replace what needs replacing with original parts.

Yep, I think you said it quite well. Driving with that big steering wheel really brings you back to a time long ago - it's awesome!

Do this one up right, this time. To be truthfull, that '55 you have is the worst panel truck I've ever seen and I'll likely ever see  Good luck with selling it and my hat's off to anyone ending up ironing it out again :tiphat:

I wasn't trying to be bogue. It's just constructive criticism. The '53's a good project. Restoring doesen't mean "Rat-Rodding" it. I'd make this one look as original as possible and if there's a 235.5 in it and you want it gone, I'd either replace it with a 261 with at most dual carbs or Tri-Power. If no six-banger is planned, then, of course, a V-8. It looks fine, from here. Therefore, I'd leave the drivetrain alone, except for changing the oil in that air cleaner. Those are still the best air filters, to date

Why insulting? I never said it wasn't worth the asking price. Of course, it is. In fact, it's a bargain, if you ask me. It only looks like a lot of work, as it is, at first. Once the flat black is removed down to the original color, it'll start looking motivating, as a project
