This was in the days when VWs were still built in Germany, but VW had secured other ports of entry from the US Government outside of King of Prussia, PA.
I know that this is a touchy subject. But, looking beyond that, these seem to be quality historical photos of which I stumbled upon, while looking up Norman Rockwell
I was curious and did a google search on the above individual. Sounds like he was quite the racist, which explains the lettering on his van. Turns out he was killed in 1967. Hearing of his son's death, Rockwell's 78-year-old father said: "I am not surprised at all. I've expected it for quite some time."
Yeah, it was supposedly friendly fire, done by some member of that group of his that did him in. A couple of slugs entered the '58 Chevy he was driving. There are a few more photos from that session. But, I decided to hold them back, because these people were just too far out, as too how they were clothed and what the were sticking onto that van. But, if there are no objections, I could post the rest of those LIFE magazine images
I've seen this one around before. Came across it today, thought I'd snap a few photos to share with y'all.
Haha yep. We've got a few of them around. This is the one that has a sticker on the back that says "0-60 in... never"
I was gonna say, they're stocking up for the next love-in, but then I saw no one dressed in hippie garb. So they all must be heading to a fishing derby.
If the Vee Dubb and Opel Kadett hadn't escaped the Rustbelt, they'd likely not even have existed, by the time this photograph was taken
