Sometimes it takes a lawyer to get them off their duffs and moving. Of course, if you are not in a no fault area, then your insurance company should be working with you to get things moving.

Only thing is with MY Ins co is I don't want my rates going up AGAIN simply because they need to do their job!( and for stuff that is NOT OUR FAULT!)

When the lil locals spray painted the car (6 month old paint) they paid to "clean" it. Yea that took off some of the original paint and yes I was PIZZED! Comprehensive rates went up. Big old rock pops off the windshield mind you in a snow storm last winter, on an icy snow covered hill. Squalls could barely see 20 feet, I have coverage and turn it in. They ask "Did you get the plate # off the vehicle that tossed the rock" OH YEA I am gonna try to chase down a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get a plate # in THAT weather! They UP the rates again! Between my wife and I we drive LESS than 10,000 miles a year COMBINED! Both those incidents didn't cost them 600.
And no violations (Knocks on wood)!

My comp premiums went from 16-20 per car to over 50!(on my older rides) and the other has raised too.

Any good suggestions for a dependable ins co?

I know all the tow company's in the area and talked to the guy who towed the truck that hit me. He said he has had those kind of problems and said there is some insurance commission I can contact.

Good luck. The only real accident I was in was caused by a car load of young drunks on glare ice and blowing snow. I'd only had my new truck less than a week and was on my way to work at 3:30AM on a 4-lane divided highway with nearly no other traffic. The on coming car came across the wide medium. To avoid a direct head on collision I was able to move to the left lane. Remember very icy.
Got hit on the right front grille and fender area. Later as I went on to work I got stopped and got a warning for a non working headlight!!!!!!!
They admitted partying and drinking. By the time insurance companies paid me the minimum to get my new truck repaired I was often called at fault for the accident. These things get twisted up over months of slow insurance and police work.:slap:
As I wrote on another post on the plus side I was able to replace the single headlight 77 Ford nose with the new 78 oval grill and dual lites that had just come out. I always bought year end vehicles and now I had a new 77-78 Ford truck. Maybe you will be able to repair your wagon.

Well they can't even think of blaming me for anything I was legally parked and no where near the car. If I was in it I probably would be in the hospital.

I feel for you having the car hit and run smashed, drunk driver busted ....But I have to say WTF is with you're insurance company's in the USA??...waiting for the drunk to contact them????:49::confused::49:. Over the years I have been banged and bumped, even had a wagon stolen out of my drive way ( to be found smashed:mad: while I was in hospital), never once have I had a problem with a no fault claim towards the car/s and everything happened ASAP with auto insurance even with my stolen wagon, stolen rite out of my drive way! AND never did it effect my rates via auto insurance. Even with my stolen wagon witch had tools in that went missing. I had no hassles other than having to put the tools on my home owners insurance because the car was in my drive way, had 2 years of can't remember chump change increase compared to the cost of the tools they replaced and no claims after my home insurance went back to normal.

    EDIT....
Don't know if you have this option in the USA, I pay a couple $ more for under insured/no insurance drivers incase some thing happens for a not my fault accident witch does not affect my pocket book if I am not at fault.

Just an insurance company trying to get out of paying by making him think it is too much hassle for an old car. Most states have an insurance commission that doesn't approve of this type of tactic, if not then some TV stations have a consumer advocate that just LOVES to go after companies with bad publicity until they give in and do what they are supposed to be doing.
