Glad you found us. Great find. Theres a 62 F-85 wagon owner in Virginia thats a member here, but you may be the first 61 F-85 wagon owner among us.
Welocme and what a great rescue. I'm glad you were able to save it and are going to get it on the road again. 51,000 miles. That's amazing. Do you think it's been around once or no?
I dont think it has... In PA the you have to state the mileage when you transfer the title and then it's put on the title itself. The last time the car was sold it had 38,000 on it. The other cool part is it was still in the same town as the dealership it was bought at fifty years ago.
If its an automatic, it might well be the roto hydramatic, a 3 sp unit also known as a "slim jim." They can be problematic according to another member. He says its best to find a tech that had experience with these units if you ever need any work on it. Your wagon looks like it might be a "Deluxe" model judging from the amount of stainless trim around the windows. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Roto_Hydramatic_transmission
Motomike i thought so to , nothing says it though on the car. And I didn't know they had two different size slim jims, I had a 61 dynamic 88 sedan with one and it was a pain! One thing, on my list after the brakes are done is getting the tailgate opened ( i dont have a key) and finding out if it has a third seat! Kinda leaving that as a surprise. Thanks for all the welcomes!
Yeah, I heard the early models had a 3rd seat option, not available on the 63 we had. Our 63 did not say "Deluxe" on it anywhere either, you have a 2 barrel or 4 barrel 215? I think our door locks and the tailgate lock were keyed the same if that helps you anyhow.
Justin WICKED styling on those F's !!!!! not too many around....try not to bruise her too bad and...Cragars in 4 lug are getting few and far between too....that should look bitchin tho
this ones a 2 bbl, i thought the deluxe only came with the 4bbl.? i tried the ignition key...didnt work, i'll just get a new lock and tumbler for it. thanks! tell me about it...four lug cragars seem to be one of those parts that are at every swapmeet until you're actually looking for them
Great car Justin. I love Oldsmobiles (I own 3- a '92 88, a '95 88 and a supercharged '94 Ninety Eight). I had a '61 F-85 Cutlass convertible in the early 90's. I love their quirky design, and the front grille. Hard to find parts for so it's good that all the trim is there. Good luck with it!
Sweet wagon! I saw in your intro that you also used to have a 59 impala wagon. I just got hold of a 59 brookwood myself. I see your also from my neck of the woods, I grew up in Bensalem and now live in Brigantine NJ. Good luck with your wagon, maybe we will run into each other during the show season.
thanks guys! unfourtanetly i don't have any pics on this computer of the '59 wagon (i had it before i had a digital camera) this was my 64/63 bel air wagon....last i heard it was in Indiana. I can't wait to get out to some shows this year!
Bellflower pipes! Lookin' good...... Since my first car was a '63 F-85 Cutlass (post coupe), I've always had a soft spot for these early GM compacts. Maybe when I'm able to get a 'fun wagon', I'll look into these more......
X2 Love the trim on that belair……personally i like it better than the Impala Trim, but thats just my taste… >>Still looking for a tailgate window regulator for my '64 impala<<
