You gotta step to the plate BBC and get yourself a hoist. The upside (pardon the pun) is you can work under your car easily and quickly.

The downside (more pun pardon) is you become everyone's best friend, you now know where every oil leak is and feel obligated to fix them, wipe the car down, etc., and, you suddenly have all this cardboard you don't have a use for - and it's free, the hoist isn't.

Welcome Blacksnake; your's looks to be a pretty cool Comet. You say you're looking for bumpers, but that front one looks like it'd clean up nice. Maybe the picture's deceiving, but I'll bet you get some Noxon and elbow grease and it'll be good as new.
Good luck on the resto. I'm looking forward to pictures along the way.

Snooter, you are correct sir, front is good for now. I have made a bit of progress, motor and trans is out, interior is out, fuel tank out rady to be resealed, almost all of engine bay is cleared and I have started to clean it up and get it ready for some flat black.

Most of the front grill etc is off. I think I may have to get a bit if body work done (roof hole) and leave her in primer (spots) for a bit. I have all new front suspension coming, that should be pretty easy.

I have ordered a Ford racing 306 (3495 variety) and I am going to put that in my 65 mustang and put the mustang motor and c4 into the Comet.

I am sure I am supposed to put this somewhere else so maybe I will find that section next time I post and I will add some pics of the comet.

Here are some pics of the Mustang and the donor motor.

I was gonna order fries and pancakes off the manifolds! That is one clean machine. The Comet will eat this up. She'll purr and do whatever it takes to honour that engine.;)

The mustang motor has quite its own story, it was built in the early 90' s and then parked (lack of interest the guy said), when I got the mustang it hadnt been started since 1995. i got it in 2009. I put in some marvel mystery oil in the spark plug holes just to be safe and let her sit for 2 days turning occasionally. After changing the distributor, she fired right up. Since then I have painted the block added all new ignition, carb, a dress up kit and a few other nick nacks, she is really a lot more show than go. Here is a pic of the motor the day I brought the mustang home.

No telling what it'll be in two weeks. All week we've been 109-111 degrees with humidity and a T-storm last nite. It's supposed to cool off mid-next week to 100 or so.

It should satisfy you....plenty hot and dusty.:biglaugh:We did get spoiled as it was barely in the 90's until late June and all but one day in May was 72-80. As I've got older I kind of hibernate during mid day anymore. I did enjoy the light show last nite with the litening and some pouring down rain.

Well the last two days tryin to get her ready to send to the body guy, remove all door handles inside n out, removed the roof rack, windshield, wind wings, rear curved windows, tailgate skin, bumpers, front fenders and last and def not least (the most trim I have ever removed) all of the stainless trim that makes it a COmet 404 UGHH.
That was the last two days!! I will post pics on Monday of the skeleton I will send to the body man. I have decided to go back to the factory color with a slight modification.

I am removing the roof rack, I am going to go with Anniversary silver, aka Smoke grey, for the body with the coves (Between the stainless trim) will be Corinthian white aka Wimbledon white, and the top also will be Wimbledon white. I will also have a secret Red accent. You will have to wait for photos to see the secret Red.

I am going back to original interior as well RED but instead of White Headliner I am going Red. Seats will get a white accent. Pretty excited now I just have to save my pennies. I will post agin Monday after i work on the POS.

    Jealous of your Progress

Good job getting all that work done. My Fairlane is still to come back from the mechanics. Then to the body shop and then save up to do the paint. Good decision keeping it original. It sounds like it will turn out great. Here's a shot of the Squire at the shop. Keep up the good work
