    My grandmother drives a 2002 Grand Marquis 4-dr. Trust me, it's a nice car with about 40000 miles on it. I'd like to take it and rurn it into a Marauder clone (can't afford the real thing). Yep, at 83 years old, she still drives in good weather. And she's still a good driver.
    She's quite a woman, indeed. My grandfather died 3 years ago, and she really misses him (married almost 60 years). But, her greatest concern has always been her kids and grandkids. I spent every summer with them from when I was 8 until I graduated from college. I was her first grandchild, and when I was little I told her I'd be living in that house someday. I still have the same wish.
    Law Enforcement took a hard hit, but I'm checking in the area for jobs. I'll do whatever it takes to take care of my family. If I have to sling burgers, so be it!!

    IMO you are being given a gift, think of your future rather than now. Land is always worth some thing if it's yours. Sounds like you have a wonderful Grandmother(y)

    @Drg racr
    Your Grandma's offer shines a light on the true power of family.
    My family has been a blessing during these times as well.

    Best of luck in your work search.

    Its hard to get a job when there arent any. I just lost my job myself, and now while im getting the unemployment benefits im doing side jobs to make it. You can get benefits for up to 3 years. As insane as it is by buring our country into eternal debt, its a small lifeline to many people like me.

    Nobody ever choked from swollowing their pride. If you need to and have the means, move back with family. Jobs and friends come and go but family is forever

    Trucking outfits have been laying off trucker left and right for nearly two years now. My brother is an O/O (owner/operator) and has been for 30 years. Nost places that ARE hiring, aren't paying for $h!t, and they are not paying to have things hauled. Trucking is a BAD industry to get into now, unless you are willing, literally, to work slave wages.

    LE is another poor career choice right now. The OHP has cancelled this year's academy class, and several municipalities are laying off and cancelling cadet courses.

    What I have been considering getting into very seriously, as a career choice for the future, is geriatric care and geriatric psychology/counselling. People will continue to get old. Old people need care, counselling, and general help, no matter what the economy is doing.

    Or, I may just move into the mountains, stake a claim on some of MY (taxpayer/Federal) land, and hunt and fish my way to my eventual demise. Who knows!

    Well, my wife filed for Underemployment (never heard of it), and she actually got it. She'll get a little $$ from the state, not much, but maybe enough to keep us afloat till Spring. I hate moving in the middle of winter.
    Oh, also, my landlord knocked down our rent by $250!! See, I knew I had nothing to worry about.
